PlayStation Phone caught on video

Gaming

A new video posted to YouTube Wednesday reportedly shows a man handling Sony Ericsson’s upcoming PlayStation Phone. While very little, if anything, can be gleaned from the video itself, the important takeaway is the very existence of this footage. The PlayStation Phone is now being demonstrated in various corners of the world, which means an announcement shouldn’t be far off. The blogger who played with the phone did have some interesting tidbits to share as well, such as specs that include a 4-inch touchscreen, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a dedicated game store, a touch-sensitive control surface on the slider, an 8-megapixel camera and some special PlayStation-themed live wallpapers. He also says that the codename of the device is listed as Zeus, which jibes with earlier reports.

How can anyone be sure that’s the new PSPhone?

Would have been nice if it were opened and played a game.

Not believing this one. 2.3 isn’t even released yet. Otherwise I think we would be seeing leaks of the builds by now from alpha/beta testers. I love the idea of this phone. It is going to be huge.

Ah, another one of those “I’m following the flamer pack” people. Get a life. Do you even know what true fragmentation is? Can you give me any example of this ‘fragmentation’ you speak of and how it’s bad?

Fragmentation=not all devices get the updates, my captivate is still waiting for froyo while other phones go it. That’s one big fragmentation.

And this is proof how? Didn’t see the slider open to show buttons no logos no games. Btw I’m typing this on my psp phone ; )

Serious though iwill definitely pick this phone up of it has psp games to play for it. Either emulation or actual hardware to run the downloaded titles. Hope if it’s legit it is compatible with current psp games minus the stupid ass umd.

There is a PS phone for a U.S. carrier that has been in development stages for some time now. I’ve seen copies of the development paperwork including drawings of the device, however, those rough drawings could have potentially changed as well as the form factor. I can say that the phone will require a faster network (either wifi or a network upgrade) to utilize the device properly. As for the specs camera wise, in the initial docuents, the exact specs of the device were not listed. I would say perhaps a Q1 launch or perhaps, but doubtful, a 2010 holiday launch.
