Mophie case keeps your iPhone charged without impeding on your style

Accessories

The gang over at mophie, a company that makes a variety of power products for mobile devices, was kind enough to loan us a juice pack air for the iPhone 4. For those unfamiliar, the juice pack is a slide-on case that packs an extra 1500mAh battery for those times when power is at a premium. Although the case does add a fair amount of weight and depth to your iPhone, it also nearly doubles the battery life. We took the case with us when traveling to several events — where we were using our jailbroken iPhone 4 to tether via Wi-Fi — and the amount of time the juice air pack allowed us to use our handset without the need for a wall outlet was truly impressive. When the case is fully charged, activating its battery can almost completely replenish the battery of your iPhone 4. This allows you to use your device until the iPhone 4′s original charge is spent and for two hours while the case recharges the iPhone. Once the case is out of juice, your iPhone is left with somewhere between 80% and 90% of its reserve and you’re ready to rock and roll again.

Yesterday, mophie announced that the juice pack air will be available in two new colors — red and white (insert white iPhone 4 joke here) — and the case retails for $79.95. The company also makes several non-case, universal juice packs with a standard USB connection for other power-hungry devices. If you’re looking for a gift for a gadget-geek this holiday season, you might want to consider a mophie power pack.

cool case for my iphone 4

  • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

You see, Android phones don’t need this. Last time I charged my Droid x was November 2 and I have been talking on it about 10 hours a day, surfing the web the rest of the time AND all of this with about 100 applications running in the background, INCLUDING GPS and I still have 50% left in my battery.

iPhone? You are lucking if you get 1 and a half days with it OFF.

How sad must you be to make up such BS just to make yourself feel better about a decision you made on a smartphone?

      • Goofan (aka Apple Hater)

I would NEVER EVER be sorry about being a Goofan (aka Apple Hater) Are you sorry for being a CrApple fanboy???? If you are happy with your iPhone crap, I feel sorry for you. Especially when you have amazing products like the Droid x which are 10 times more powerful than a MacPro loaded with 8 XEON processors and 32GB of RAM. I have seen this! All with about 3-4 weeks of battery life and NO ISSUES with signal even if you are 1000 feet underground.

Dude, it’s amazing! You have to give it a try. The battery is soooo strong I was able to jump start my care with it the other day. My ex-wife tells me that with hers she was able to plug the washer and dryer onto the phone and get a load on both and STILL have about 90% battery life. It’s freaking amazing!

you are some kind of stupid … I don’t know stupid like you do, so it’s hard to say WHAT kind you are …

If you’re going to brag about your phone at least make it sound somewhat realistic. According to Verizon Wireless, the Droid X has eight hours of talk time, and 220 hours of standby time. Your phone must have come with a car battery if it lasts that long.

Unless you have a nuclear power cell, your a dishonest a-hole with about as much intelligent as a dead skin cell.

It really depends on how often you use it. iPhone 4 lasts all day for my parents. My friend has a DroidX which he has to recharge at the end of the night. iPhone 4 actually has excellent battery life. So needless to say I don’t believe your claims of this applying to DroidX as a DEVICE. This simply speaks to YOUR usage … or … you are simply exaggerating.

To anyone who doesn’t see the obvious sarcasm in this guy’s post: You are all humorless, sad beings lol. He’s just screwing around.

Looks good and sounds like it works great. Must get me one.

I have used a mophie case on my 3GS and love it. It’s like having a car charger with you at all times. Do I use it everyday, no, but I don’t use my car charger everyday. It’s just there when I need it.

  • Rich

Unfortunately, if it’s anything like the Juicepack Air that I bought for my iPhone 3G last year, it absolutely kills the cell reception in anything other than a 5-bar signal area.

    • numetheus

This should not because the antenna on the iPhone 4 is external and on the sides. The 3Gs has its antenna on the back right behind the battery of the juicepack. There is only a thin piece of plastic touching the antenna.

  • Thefan

They need to make this for the evo. Sounds like it would come in handy.

  • J. Edmonds

The iPhone 4 gets fairly decent battery life, the case is cool I just don’t feel the need like I did with my 3GS.

  • Apv12mm

I have a Evo and I wish mine last you Droid X user has. I have 4G and Bluebooth disabled. Maybe i need to get a Droid X

  • wanderer

I actually liked it on my 3GS, but now with the iphone4, I purchased the Mophie External Juice Pack for my IP4 and my Ipods. Love the flashlite that comes with it too.

  • MaybeSoMaybeNot

This appears to plug into the connector. They should have designed this to stay on at all times with some sort of “pass through” connector to allow you to hook up through the Mophie case via USB whenever you’d like to sync to iTunes.

    • numetheus

Mophie has always had a USB connector for charging and syncing. This one is no different. From the site: “Charge and Sync — Charge and sync your iPhone to iTunes without removing it from the juice pack air by using the included USB cable.”

I have a Mophie Juicepack on my 3Gs and I never remove it. It gives the added benefit of being able to sync with any standard microUSB cable which I also use for my BlackBerry.

    • LairBear

There seems to be little or no info on their web site about how this thing works. How the heck do you connect the cable to the computer to update iTunes? Remove the case everytime?

  • Davis

I had one for my 3GS and liked it. I can usually get about two days from my iPhone 4 now though, so I don’t want to spend $80 for every day use. Maybe if I’m going on a road trip and want to do some wifi tethering or something it’d be a good purchase. Mophie makes a good product and they have good support.

  • Paul Yindeemark

Love this product , got one for my old 3GS and my 4 and looking to buy another one since I didn’t know they just launched the white ones in the store!

  • Yngstunna11@yahoo.com
