Google CEO shows off Nexus S, reveals NFC capabilities

mobile

While the device’s logo was taped over, there’s no mistaking it β€” Google CEO Eric Schmidt just gave a live demo at the Web 2.0 summit with Google’s upcoming Nexus S smartphone. He called it an “unannounced phone” from an “announced manufacturer,” but the device used in Schmidt’s demos was outed last week and it is indeed none other than Google’s Nexus One successor. As for new info, there really isn’t anything to speak of at this point. Schmidt just mentioned that NFC technology, which is supported by Android 2.3 and included on the device he showed off at the summit, would eventually replace credit cards. He then joked that while he admits to having said Google will not be releasing a “Nexus Two,” he never said anything about the letter “S”.

T-Mobile rules all… Any questions??? Nexus One, Nexus S, HSPA+

    • Donny

They rule if you can find their signal, which in practice is quite difficult. But I don’t work for them like a lot of major fans on here…I just had service with them for 8 years. I didn’t live in a major city most of the time. Only Chicago and Indy…too small towns so I can understand why they were a little lax on covering them adequately…

      • Anonymous

Funny how two of us from the same city can have a totally different opinion on their coverage.

I don’t have any issues with them in Chicago.

Either your a little bitch who overexagggerates or a little jealous bitch who works for AT&T?

Sorry that you lost service in the back of Wal-Mart while eating cheetos. Get over it. It happens.

Mmm… taste the fanboy(girl?)ism. If you’ve never had an experience where local coverage for your provider of choice was shit, while its overall coverage was amazing, you have truly lived a charmed life. Maybe, just maybe, there exists a universe wherein both you and Donny have valid points.

Who am I kidding? This is the internet. lollolol ginaede ur sto0pid

when is this coming out? will it come out during thanksgiving?

    • Norm

It’s already way behind schedule. The Samsung Galaxy DROID Fascinate came out in September and it’s already mid-November. I personally am sick of dealing with questions about getting DROID OS 2.2 on the Fascinate. I keep telling people to relax as I knew this would be coming out soon and they would be able to get a new Samsung DROID with 2.2 on it. With DROID you only have to wait at most 2-3 months for a sequel to your brand new phone, so just relax people. Enjoy your DROID for 2 months, save up about 599.99 and buy the newest DROID when it comes out and then you will have a the OS upgrade. It’s a really easy process. I have done this 6 times since the release of the original DROID. It’s like clockwork. No worries.

Hey Retard! It’s called ANDROID. Get that iPhone out of ya ass and stop hatin.

    • Booboolala2000

Yes they do. I will never buy a Motorizon Experience device again. HTC or if something like this comes to VZW, I will drop my moto in the toilo.

Sounds kind of like what apple did with the 3GS. Yea, google isn’t copying Apple at all…

I’m glad Samsung is already getting ready to release a follow up to the Fascinate. Obviously they’ve learned a thing or two from HTC and Motorola who finally got the right idea in their ability to release follow up to DROIDs within 2-3 weeks. When a new version of the DROID OS comes out people don’t want to have to wait 6-12 months for a new DROID to be able to have the newest OS. They want that new DROID with the newest DROID OS when it actually comes out.

    • combatwombat

There is no Droid OS, you stupid fuck. It’s called ANDROID. God I hate this retard.

      • X Glansburg

        and you just fed him.
That one response alone is enough energy for him to troll for another month. Just say something malicious about his iphone, that always makes him butthurt.

Otherwise known as Google’s second phone, which won’t sell any better than the first if it’s stuck to a ghetto carrier like T-Mobile.

    • Anonymous

Sorry to hear that you live in such a “ghetto” area where you don’t get any coverage. That’s not T-mobiles fault… make some more money and move to a good area and you won’t have a problem like everyone else =D

I will buy this on launch day. I have great HSPA+ (4G) service here. Hopefully this phone can take advantage of it. My Gf MyTouch 4G is really quick puts my N1 to shame on downloads and browsing.

  • Anonymous

I’d be okay with the added weight if they put a metal back on this like the MT4G.

Time to get one of those EM+ plans while they’re available. You can get them by calling CS or get them by doing a search for “Flexpay,” from their website.

That doesn’t look like a 4 or 4.3 inch screen! After having a Droid X, it’s clear that a 4.3 in screen is the sweet spot. I can’t go back to 3.5 – 3.8 anymore. At least a 4 in screen. Hopefully it’s just the photo.

  • Nusrat

It needs a 12″ screen. I can’t go back to a small 3.5″ screen. After getting the Samsung Tablet Phone, I can’t go back to anything less than 6.5 inches.
