Words ‘Nexus S’ appear, disappear from Best Buy’s website; T-Mobile bound

mobile

Remember that Nexus Two rumor? Well, Samsung publicly stated that the Nexus Two fodder was “simply not true,” but they didn’t say anything about the Nexus S! Earlier this morning, blog Phandroid noticed Best Buy’s website advertising the Nexus S handset; it has since been removed. The exact verbiage of the ad, which did not have an accompanying image, was:

The Nexus S. Available only at Best Buy this holiday season.

As you may also notice, the name of the missing image is “Nexus S for T Mobile.” Alright, let’s hear your best conspiracy theory. Will the Nexus S be a Galaxy S set with Android 2.3? Will it be T-Mobile only or will just the T-Mobile variant be a Best Buy exclusive? Pandora’s Box is officially open for business. Go nuts.

DAMN! Why can’t Verizon get a new pure Google handset. That’s what I want. On the 17th I can upgrade and I want solid confirmation of new Verizon Androids.

    • Bringit

Agreed. Give me some Nexus S (or whatever Nexus they want to call it) on VZW.

VZW offers the best DROIDS out there. Where the fuck have you been?

      • Anonymous

He said, “…a new pure Google handset” not the 5th iteration of a Droid… Something new and fresh and isn’t designed by Motorola. Maybe an HTC or Samsung…

I have a feeling your friends and family laugh at you a lot, considering you blurt things out that are completely stupid.

As scribbles92 said, I was talking about a “pure Google” phone. Not a general Android phone. Yes, Verizon does arguably have the best selection as the best Android phone is probably the Evo all in all.

But, I want a Nexus phone, even with some VZ apps are fine. Just no manufacturer crap so updates are far easier.

My conspiracy theory is they were supposed to intro it with Google at that last event that turned out to be a non event.

I think this ad was supposed to go up from the beginning since a Nexus S was going to be announced this week but since it didn’t happen, no picture for the ad. Someone probably just forgot to take down the automatic posting for this ad we see.

    It’s a good sign.
Hopefully it’s sold unlocked so I can forget about Vibrant.

If this is based on the Galaxy S phones, it may be a great thing to all of us Galaxy S phone owners. It could mean two different things.

    1. Samsung might just skip 2.2 and give us all 2.3. (unlikely)
    2. We can all put roms based on this phone’s build on our rooted phones. (likely)

I care less about whether Froyo or Gingerbread will be running on it, for Christ sakes put a damn flash on the camera!!!!

      • Anonymous

Yeah, that’s why I was happy to see Fascinate had a flash where Captivate did not. Kinda silly that was left on the design table.

    Best Buy> CPW.

Nexus S? Seriously, this is like copying off the iPhone 3G”S”.
