Samsung’s Galaxy Tab coming to AT&T November 21st, $649?

Tablets

Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless have all announced a release date (or released) the Samsung Galaxy Tab, however, for the most part, AT&T has kept quiet. Perhaps it is because they are the only U.S. carrier that can natively support the cellular radio in the iPad? Maybe they are waiting for the second generation Tab? Maybe not. Engadget has been sent in some intel that seems to indicate the device will be hitting Ma’ Bell on the 21st of November for the head-scratching price of $649. The $649 no-commitment price is listed as the “HQ Recommended” price and the sheet notes that shops should “consult their local price sheet for actual pricing.” No indication of an on-contract price was listed for the tablet device.

The report also details that the Tab will be getting the same data plans as the iPad — $14.99 monthly for 250MB or $25 monthly for 2GB.

One thing is certain, if AT&T is launching the device on the 21st, an official announcement should be imminent.

Apple has set the price point on tablets. It really does not matter how much more memory, how much more expandability, how much faster another tablet is. If it costs more than an iPad, consumers will buy an iPad instead.

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. If only the prices were lower, then it would sell even more.

How about the $599 price on Verizon with or without contract launched today? I was all jazzed up to buy one but that is tipping a little high for me on price even as early adopters go. That should be about $450, $350 with contract. Or $499 with the AMOLED screen. I am passing for now as much as I hate to do so and hope they see the problem and fix it before the holiday… The truth is I would be better off with one of the 4″ AMOLED Galaxy S devices for 1/3 of the cost. Maybe the 7″ in between zone (4″ phone vs 10″ tab) is a dangerous place to be??? Certainly at that price…

    Let’s do a comparison:
    T-Mobile EM
    $400 + $50/month 5GB semi-unlimited
    or
    T-Mobile EM+
    $600 + $40/month 5GB semi-unlimited

    AT&T
    $650 + $25/month 2GB + $10/GB overage

which is better for 3-4GB a month average usage?

I don’t know what the deal is – 5 to 800 nice tablets or a $99 one that’s complete cut-price all the way. Can’t we have something decent for $299 off contract?
