Sling Media announced Tuesday that its popular SlingPlayer Mobile software is now available for Windows Phone 7 devices. The mobile app will allow Windows Phone 7-powered handsets like the HTC Surround to stream live TV content from a home television via Wi-Fi or 3G. Sling Media uses a hardware component — a Slingbox — to capture signals from a user’s cable or satellite box and rebroadcast the content over the Internet using a private stream. Slingboxes can also stream content recorded with a DVR using the same technology. SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Phone 7 is available immediately in the Windows Marketplace for $29.99. Why the hell cant i downrank ppl anymore? Im sick of seeing these “why doesn’t it have Android on it?” Or my personal favorites “i would get it if it had Android on it” seriously does every phone have to run Android? From now on im gunna call Android “Droid” just to piss off the fan boys because they annoy me so much.

First off I already think this dude you’re responding to is trolling, because android does have this app.
Second no one said anything about android being on something, I think you’re looking for that nokia n8 thread from earlier.
Third, glansburg or “norm” already does the droid os troll, so be more original.

Android is the knockoff version of DROID. Tmobile and Sprint have to add the “an” to DROID or else they would just be stealing. DROID and DROID OS are property of VZW and Google. “Android” is just some term given to phones that copy off of the extremely successful DROID series by VZW.

Are you for real? Haha. Android is the Google smartphone OS. There is no “DROID OS” that is owned by Verizon. The skin over vanilla Android on most “DROIDS” for Verizon is called MotoBlur. Unless your using an HTC “DROID” like the HTC “DROID” Incredable which is HTC Sense.

Why spend $30.00 for this on Windows Phone 7 or any OS?

    • Anonymous

Because its absolutely awesome and you can watch your college football team while on the road. It pays for itself the first time it keeps you from missing a game. Or in your case it keeps you from missing dancing with the stars while you’re getting a pedicure.
      Don’t be cheap, be thankful.

The Sling Media people must have lost their minds. Why would they release an App for Windows 7, which has no viable user base and limited prospects, when they haven’t even released an iPad client. So Sad.

I’ve been ready to buy a Slingbox Pro HD but not until there is an iPad client.

I got an email from Sling Media today saying the iPad client will be released soon.
