Samsung officially announces Continuum handset, available November 11th on Verizon

Breaking

The proverbial cat was out of the bag a very, very long time ago, but today — just hours before its planned media event — Samsung announced the Continuum Galaxy S handset. The new, dual-screen, Android 2.1 handset will be available from U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless on November 11th, and, if all rumors hold true, will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract. Your friends at BGR will be in attendance tonight and we’ll report back with some first impressions after we get some hands-on time with the device.

The bottom notification screen seems so gimmicky…

I give them props for being creative, but I think it will die along with suretype.

i wonder if you could use the ticker display as a stock ticker display. how awesome would it be if you had all your stocks scroll by on the bottom regardless what you are doing on top. like the news.

According to the user manual on the VZW website, the Continuum has Bing for search.

If you want Bing-free Android from Verizon, get a DROID of some sort.

If this came preinstalled with 2.2 it might have a chance with those in the know. But, to still have 2.1 AND Bing….. FU Verizon/Samsung.

So far I have nothing to use my upgrade on next week. Better see real rumors prove to be true with 2.3 Android and some nice phones before this year is over.
