T-Mobile branded Dock Connector cables arriving at certain retail stores

General

Any T-Mobile fans out there looking for some fresh iPhone-rumor fodder? TMoNews is reporting that several T-Mobile retail locations are starting to receive T-Mobile branded Dock Connector cables; a 30-pin cord which is currently only used by Apple’s iPods, iPads, and iPhones.

T-Mobile has publicly stated that it would support unlocked iPhones on its network — this new cable could be a testament to that. However, if you’re one of those people who know all about the “Magic Bullet” theory, you might like to convince yourself that the cable is a clear indication that Magenta could begin offering the iPad or the iPhone in the not-so-distant future.

Anyone have any additional thoughts or conspiracy theories? We’ve reached out to T-Mobile for comment and will update this post with any additional information provided.

I think Tmobile is carrying the iPod touch. No iphone or iPad.

    • Adam

Really? You think they produced their own dock connector for a T-Mo Ipod Touch?

Does any Mobile carrier carry the iPod Touch specifically? I don’t see how you came to this conclusion! smh

    • Carmem

You don’t know what you are talking about.

Are yu stupid?!!! Why would they carry a ipod touch ?!!!!!!!!! Dumbass!

January is when we’re due for an “iPad 2″ announcement. iPad 3G supported fully by T-Mobile and then June T-Mo iPhone when the announcement is made.

    I so hope I’m right.

Yes, but it would be the “iPad 4G”, ’cause, you know, marketing and all.

No were not. Apple releases once a year. Their product cycle is always at least a year out. They don’t break stride and will not now. IPad is selling like hot cakes. It will un for at least a year. Stop stupid rumors please.

Original iPad announcement date was January 27, 2009. Annual refresh is coming. Some time between the Original January announcement date and the April Launch date. They have cut the cycle down to 10 months for certain products so a February launch isn’t out of the question.

TMO has the iPhone in Europe. This wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

  • Vollrathian

I’m pretty sure the galaxy tablet also uses a 30 pin connector.

Does the Galaxy Tab’s 30 pin connector come in a box that says “For iPod and iPhone”? I think not.

My money is on the ipad or ipad2 being available on AT&T and T Mobile. Possibly the iphone also but I am still not convinced of that. Apple have been adding multiple distribution channels for ipad recently (including verizon even thought it won’t directly connect to a CDMA network) so it would not surprise me to see it on T Mobile. I believe T Mo also announced new data plans recently. Coinsidence? I think not.

Oh man!!! I’ve been waiting for the iPhone to come to a GSM carrier!!

    Wait… no, no I haven’t.

  • Donny

If they get the iphone before Verizon I’m going to be severly pissed I switched last spring.

    • http://twitter.com/MattSTKC Matthew H.

of course they’ll get the iPhone before Verizon or at least at the same time. The minor amount of work to make the iPhone T-Mo compliant is nothing compared to the massive overhall needed for a CDMA iPhone.

  • kertong

it’s probably for the dell streak.

    • kertong

whoops. just saw the “for ipod/iphone”. /ban self

I have family that works at tmo. There has been internal talk of getting the iphone since june.

So being that verizon and tmo are both getting iphones I wonder if that means sprint will too. If all four of the big carriers get iphones. Will that kill Androids adoption in the usa? Cus most americans will buy whatever makes them cooler.

Ill keep with android and productivity. iOS is brilliant, just became boring to me and not nearly as many options out of the box as android.

    • http://twitter.com/MattSTKC Matthew H.

I’ve had an iPhone, an Android phone and a Blackberry which is my current device. I love them all for different reasons and I hate them all for at least 1 thing. I just really want a choice with my phone without having to give up the great price I have now at T-Mo. I’m paying less per month and when I can switch to an even more plus plan, I will and save another $30 dollars putting me a full $50 under a comparable AT&T plan.

  • Nguyen Tintin

wait… where does it say tmobile on the box?

    • http://twitter.com/MattSTKC Matthew H.

All cables sold by T-mo are in that packaging. no one else sells cables in that packaging

  • Mike154

Hey ppls the 30pin Dock is for the Galaxy S Tab.!!! HELLOW.!!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/MattSTKC Matthew H.

  • TwiceDown

My job must run really old browser. I can not view the comments from work. I have to get on my N1 which is way to obvious. That was off topic… excuse me.

  • Justatroll

“Coming soon tmo white iphone with black dock cable connectors!” That would be so funny if that happens and then you’ll see at&t apple fanboys running to tmo for a white iphone lol..

Oh and I wouldnt be surorisr if vzw cones ouf w a red iphone lol

  • Anonymous

I really want iPhone to go to all 4 major carriers.
Hope this means Tmobile and Vzw get it next.
I wouldn’t bet on sprint so much. They don’t even know if they will have a 4G network tomorrow morning :p

  • Drew

I think nothing of it…. They were selling the Nexus One accessories in the store as well because T-Mo “supported” the device. They never sold the Nexus One from any of the T-Mo stores so this is just more of the same. Nice try though…

  • Amir

The cables are for the Samsung Tab, which uses the same 30-pin connector as the iPhone/iPad
