Samsung UK: Android 2.2 starts rolling out today, will hit all handsets by the end of November

If you’re rocking a Samsung Galaxy S, and wondering when you are going to get to dip your proverbial spoon into the Froyo goodness, listen up. Samsung Mobile UK has just tweeted that:

Froyo starts rolling out today; everyone will have it by the end of Nov. To prepare, get the latest version of Kies

Now, we’re not sure what the implication is for Galaxy S handset users Stateside, but the fact that the roll-out is starting today can’t be a bad sign. If you’ve been waiting for Android 2.2 on your Gally S, drop us a comment and let us know your thoughts.

    So about Feb 2011 for Fascinate owners. Should give VZW just enough time to bloat it and run it through their “exhaustive” testing phase before being realease with a dozen or so bugs.

      The Fascinate was done so wrong. Bing, Verizon-Crap up the nose, different theme (uglier IMO), it has Bing.. no TV out option, no free headset or MicroSD card adapter, BING!

        ummmm….you’re kinda wrong.
        My Fascinate came with a 16GB microSD…and i’m sure that everyone else’s did also. Not sure what theme you’re talking about…TouchWiz is the same on all Galaxy S phones. Bing is a non issue because it only takes 5 minutes to replace it with Google. TV Out isn’t necessary with DLNA. What phones even come with a free headset these days? And the ones that do are crap.

        Secondly Bing is an issue, you can’t completely integrate it in place of Bing.

        DNLA? Are you kidding me? Since when did TV’s start shipping with DLNA like they ship with RCA inputs?

        The ones included with the Galaxy S, Vibrant are actually nice.

        I’m talking about the ugly lighter theme Verizon implemented.. the blue font is hideous, EVERYTHING is different. You can’t set the app layout to Alphabetical Grid. The Buddies Now/Updates widget is “colorful”(nasty, it should be black) The list goes on.

        My Epic 4G and Vibrant both came with a nice, comfortable stereo headset.

        They also came with SD to MicroSD adaptors, though the Vibrant only came with a 2GB SD card (but has 16gb of storage.

    It will be fun to see if Samsung can launch 2.2 before 2.3 is released. It looks like it is going to be close!

    It’s about time, but i’m still not holding my breath. I sure hope the rumors of a Stock Android Galaxy phone (nexus two) are true.

    Long Overdue, but better late than never.

    I recently replaced my (rather disappointing) DROID X for Verizon’s Samsung Fascinate and see nothing but awesomeness when Froyo hits this already fantastic smartphone.

    Note: and before all the nonsensical ‘fragmentation’ rhetoric starts, know that there is nothing my Fascinate couldn’t do/run with Android 2.1, only now it’ll all be faster and more efficient.

    There’s froyo custom ROM for quite sometime. It’s available in xda-developers. I personally use Doc/Kalpik’s froyo ROM.
