No Flash for you! Skyfire pulled from iOS App Store [Updated]

Breaking

We should have known it was too good to be true. Just hours after mobile web browser Skyfire landed in Apple’s iOS App Store, it was gone. For reasons only known to Apple, the iDevice company has deemed the alternative browser unworthy of a place in its famed App Store. Skyfire’s claim to fame is in its ability to remotely convert Flash video into HTML5 video that is then viewable on the iPhone. We’ve reached out to Skyfire for comment and will update the post if they respond.

Thanks, CDeeRON!

UPDATE: We’ve been informed that Skyfire pulled the application from the App Store, not Apple. High demand for Flash to HTML5 video conversions stressed the company’s servers to the max. Skyfire plans on retooling their backend infrastructure and relaunching the application.

So the demand for flash vids was more than the servers could handle. But I thought we were passed flash, Steve Jobs?

Epic failure. I had high hopes for the app. Worst $2.99 I have spent in the app store.

Yeah and Apple leave a piece of junk app called “Flash Player Review” on its app store. Flash Player Review looks like the real Flash Player logo and all, but it doesn’t do anything, but give definition of what Flash Player is and does all for $9.99. To top it all for every bad review posted their are two reviews that give it top marks. I am one that fell for it and paid the $9.99 thinking it was the real deal NOT. My two cents.

That’s funny. I still can use Skyfire on my DROID. I was using it for HypeM, earlier today. ;)

That’s funny, I still can use Fennec, Chrome and Firefox on my N900 with all of the flash content I want… what a fail to have to pay for something that is so FREE on the Internet but because some asshole won’t allow it on a device that YOU own. FAIL of EPIC proportions!!!!
