AT&T says T-Mobile’s fake 4G network isn’t the biggest

Services

AT&T released an official statement Wednesday regarding T-Mobile’s recent claims about 4G. AT&T’s problem was a bit different than ours… you know, that all 4G talk is bogus right now. Instead AT&T pointed out that T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is in fact not the largest in the country. Instead, AT&T possesses the biggest HSPA+ network — and it will still have the biggest HSPA+ network when T-Mobile finishes its 2010 expansion. AT&T’s statement:

T-Mobile’s claims about 4G are based on the same HSPA+ technology we have deployed to 180 million people today, more than T-Mobile’s reported 140 million, and we’ll have it rolled out to 250 million people by the end of this month, substantially more than the 200 million T-Mobile says it will have by year-end.

AT&T also pointed out that T-Mobile’s claims about its HSPA+ network speeds are inaccurate. T-Mobile suggested that AT&T’s network has a 14.4Mbps ceiling — but AT&T said its HSPA+ is just as fast as T-Mobile’s network, with theoretical limits of 21Mbps.

I find this to be really annoying.

This is just a scheme by AT&T to try and prove that they are somehow better than T-mobile. Well the truth is that none of them are better than the other. They all charge ridiculous fees, strict about their contract cancelling fees, and are just trying to make as much money as possible.

Sometimes the smaller company is the best choice because they care more about the buyers.

    We use Boost mobile.

I used to work for a company called Convergys, who was contracted out to AT&T. We handled inquiries regarding credits and activations.

When I started with Convergys, AT&T was #4 out of then 5 carriers (Verizon, T-Mobile, Alltel, Sprint, AT&T) in customer service, according to Consumer Reports. While I was there, they made a supposedly concerted effort to get out of fourth….and wound up in fifth the following year.

The reason for this was simple: AT&T is all about maximizing profits as quickly as they can. They were more interested in buying up competitors than they were in upgrading their antiquated, obtuse customer-care system. Their systems were slow, often went down (HINT: When an AT&T agent tells you their system is “upgrading”, they’re probably looking at a blank, black screen while tech people are busting their butts trying to make the call center work again), and their people were horribly, horribly incompetent.

I was once in a training environment working with new workers who had been taught by five different trainers. The three groups taught by Convergys trainers were vastly more prepared to do the job than those taught by AT&T trainers. They could parrot AT&T talking points until they were blue in the face, but they couldn’t even understand how to operate the basic computer systems their agents were going to have to work with on a daily basis.

Sprint… cheaper, better coverage than both att & t-mobile. The guys in purchasing really wanted the company to buy them the iphone… they got it, but now they have to go to the hallway to make calls because it will not get reception inside their office!! -LOL- I just switched to Sprint from T-Mobile because I couldn’t get reception inside my office. With my Sprint Evo, I get reception even in the basement! Anythings else does not matter!

I disagree about sprint having better coverage than ATT! My father in law had Sprint for a number of years and once he left the big cities or got out on the road (which he was a truck driver) his phone would have no service or will say roaming. He lives in the same area as I do and I have ATT, he couldn’t get service and I had full service without roaming. He finally had enough with Sprint and changed over and was added to our plan. he has no more problems with his phone and uses it a lot more now.

SO NO SPRINT ISN’T BETTER THAN ATT! YOU CAN SWITCH OVER TO SPRINT FOR THEIR CHEAPER PLANS BUT YOU WILL PAY A LOT MORE IN THE END BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT ROAMING OUTSIDE BIG CITIES AND NO SERVICE IN OTHER AREAS.

Plus, I seen someone complain about att outsourcing? A lot of the wireless providers do this including spring and Verizon… I know this from experience and the call centers have to go through extensive training and their calls are monitored.

AT&T is better than T-Mobile!!. I used to have T-Mobile their Internet is SLOW!, Unreliable,. And tmobile (Trash Mobile!) overcharged me!! About 2 months ago I switched to AT&T and get much better coverage, Blazing fast Internet!, Better customer care, and overall better service!.

The thing is that T-mobile is actually cheapter than AT&T

Okay. So AT&T is saying that they have more subscribers than T-Mo does.
    Duh.
I guess the question is how congested will their 4G areas be?
Will they be trying to fit 5 pounds into a 3 pound bag?

If the T-Mo and ATT towers are in the same locations
Would I want 140M subscribers competing with me?
Or would I want 18M subscribers competing with me?

i have Tmobile right now, changed over from At&T, i get unlimited internet, however the internet is really slow, even on on the 3G network. its slower than AT&T ‘s regular internet without 3G. Tmobile sucks!

I paid the early termination fee to drop AT&T useless internet.

They have NO presence in Montana (where I spent the summer), didn’t work across the nation and are literally 10 times slower than Verizon internet.

    GOOD RIDDANCE, AT&T!@

I’ve tried them all over the years and Sprint is the best for me as far as air-cards for my laptop. ATT does not work at all in most locations outside of large cities. Also, a little known fact about ATT is they employ independent contractors to take customer calls. They get paid based on the number of calls taken, changes in service and what they can convince you to buy. They are not there to give you the best service. ATT has really gone downhill in recent years.

At&t blows T-mobile out of the water! I have a blackberry with At&t and have mantained a t-mobile personal account for coming on 8 years…T-mobile has always promised service to improve and it did a very small amount on Long Island but they have lost almost every battle to install new cell towers over the past 3 years…I can’t have a single call while driving that doesn’t drop out.
I’m done! At&t is good but their network is overburdened by all the i-phone users.

T-mobile contract is up and I’m out here!! Going to do a new Droid X on the Verizon network!

Don’t waste your time with t-mobile if they didn’t do so well overseas then they would be gone already in the U.S.

I’ve tried Verizon with my job and my workers and they just don’t work well, very slow and have screwed us out of hundreds of dollars. We dropped them for AT&T and they work fine for us. I don’t have the problems some of you guys have I guess. Right now, half our phones are TMobile and they work alright with us. I’m just trying to figure out why you people fight about whos better. Do you seek glory by proving other wrong? I just go with companys that don’t over charge and are reliable. Some of these claims seem a bit over rated.

I guess it just depends where you live and what your using it for. All companys have faults. Just grow up and stop crying over spilled milk.
