iPad to be sold at all Best Buy Mobile locations

Retail

Following news that the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS would become available at Target stores on November 7th, Bloomberg BusinessWeek reports that Apple’s iPad will soon be available at all Best Buy Mobile locations. Apple continues to widen its net ahead of the 2010 holiday season, pushing popular products like the iPad and iPhone to as many new distributors as possible. Just last week, Apple added cellular giants Verizon Wireless and AT&T to its list of iPad vendors. Now, 158 stand-alone Best Buy Mobile locations will offer the popular iOS tablet by Thanksgiving. This is of course in addition to Best Buy’s standard retail locations, which have been selling the iPad since it launched this past April. Apple has already sold over 4 million iPads and with supply finally catching up to demand, the popular tablet is certain to be a hot item during the holiday season.

Someones getting desperate. IMO, I think Apple had the right model before in which they only sold their products at selective places, such as Apple stores, online, and select retailers. It seems as though they are expanding very quickly which can be great in the short term but I think in the long term it will de-value their brand. Think about it, now you will be seeing apple at Target, all over Best Buy, and who knows where else. It will become just another brand we walk past at the store, not one that we wait to catch a glimpse at. Apple is a closed exclusive system and it works great, I think they are trying to compensate for the competition, but this may be the wrong way to do it.

I think you’re just being arrogant and elitist.

Instead of devaluing their brand on pricing, a bigger concern is one that all businesses expanding too quickly suffer from. Quality control. A devalued product based on product defects will destroy any brand. Apple may be showing strains in its quality control based on the antenna issue and the new Macbook Air’s logic boards.

You already see Apple at Target, Best Buy, and other retailers with their iPods so what’s wrong with adding another device to their line up? The Apple store isn’t available everywhere, so they get retailers to sell Apple devices where there’s no Apple Store in your area.

4 million iPads last quarter, over 7 million since April 3rd. Big difference (sales momentum on a positive slope)!

Depending how many textbooks are available or PDFs I can find, then I plan on getting one for school. Sure beats carry around 20lbs of books!

I think that Apple has set the iPad price point as low as has because it HAS to sell as many as possible to recoup some of the money invested in it’s development and to ward off the onslaught of Android devices that are saturating the market.
The more crummy iPad knock-offs are released, the more polished and sophisticated the iPad looks every passing day. The current Android tablets are not just a mess but complete junk. Hopefully Gingerbread alleviates this. We need a great alternative to keep the ipad on it’s feet. With iPad, iPhone and Apple TV, iOS is looking to be a developers and customer staple for a long time to come. And a price point intent not taking no for an answer.
It looks like Jobs kinda knows what he’s doing. I’ll cut him some slack. lol
I don’t think any self proclaimed pundits can look over his shoulder and mother-in-law back-seat drive his every move anymore without looking like complete douches.
