iOS 4.2 GM fixes dialer security flaw

Just a quick follow up to an article we posted last week. It looks like Apple’s iOS 4.2 gold master candidate, which was pushed out to developers last night, closes the security loop hole that allowed the iPhone’s lock screen to be bypassed from the “Emergency Call” function. We’ve been trying, unsuccessful, to replicate the issue with the latest iOS pre-release.

If you’re not a member of the developer community, and wondering when you can get your hands on iOS 4.2, know that iOS 4.1 GM was released to developers one week before it went live to the general public.

    They need to worry about fixing the proximity sensor issue. I’m beginning to get a bit irritated with these silly updates. Include something that I need please.

    I agree, the proximity sensor is REALLY needed. Im getting tired of accidentally putting people on mute, hold, or just plain hanging up on them. Makes me want to chuck the phone thru the window. POS

      hey nobody is forcing nobody to stay with apple products if u don`t like it get a droid or wp7 there is plenty of choices out there stop complaining!!!!

      I don’t seem to have an issue with mine. Although it was mentioned earlier that it may be a hardware flaw, and software can only do so much to fix it.

    You people must have hollow heads. The sensor was corrected with the last update and I have no problems with mine and neither does the wife anymore.

      Same here, proximity sensor works fine on mine.

      I always apply the latest updates, and I still have the proximity issue… it’s good that your’s works, but mine is still a little buggy.

    Maybe the proximity sensor is broken. I am on my third iphone 4. It works great now. If you dont see that slight red led in a very dark-almost pitch black then it might be broken. That is the one thing I noticed after I got the latest phone.

    The led light is dark-red or blood red in the dark over the earpiece on the phone.

    Same thing with the sensor here did the update when it came out to my wife and mines and it always acts like the phone is not on my ear. Maybe I will have it checked out. But seems like others are having the same problem even after the update

    So it won’t be GA in time for the DST issue that has bitten other parts of the world already? Will people be waking up an hour later in north america this weekend?
