took your time to post about this one, eh bgr?

  • Eric C

Great now it forces vz navigator on board. Just what I needed more bloatware.

      1. root
      2. Use your favorite method to move the apk out of /system/app/
      3. Have fun. ;)

    Where’s the Droid x update?

    • will b

That will probably be released before the fascinate gets its froyo update.

Actually, this update sounds a lot like the previous Droid X update.

  • MacMan

Battery life update nice, maybe now you can get at least 4 hrs.

    • AK

i’m getting more than a day of battery life on my D2. i use it for corporate exchange and business reasons during the day and games / web / video at night.

get advanced task killer and set it to kill the bloatware apps every 1/2 hr on the highest kill level – CRAZY

      • Mmmmmmmm

Did you try using it without the Task Killer? The D2 does not need one.. It uses more battery and resources to kill an app every half hour than it does to keep it in memory.

      • bringit

        CRAZY!

      • Zee

Ditto. I have great battery life. I do not use a task killer.

    • MacVag

      You’re ignorant.

      • MacMan

The guy that sits in front of me has this issue. Phone gets charged 3 times a day.

      • MacVag

maybe he has a bad battery.. That’s is definitely not normal.. Tell him to go to Verizon and swap the battery.. Its nice to able to swap batteries and not the whole phone if there is a problem.

I bought my wife a Droid 2 a month ago, and she loves it. She gets two days on each charge.

I get about 12 hours on my Incredible with the factory extended battery Verizon sells, so how about a battery life improvement for the Incredible? I guess Motorola is on the ball, and HTC doesn’t care or needs more developers?

  • patrick

Motorola is not on the ball. Look how bad they messed up 2.2 stick with htc. I’m switching from the x as soon as a 1ghz 4 inch screen.

  • dcherry

Battery life has been good so far been out for four hours and still have 90%

  • norm

    i will marry a droid x

  • Norm

I get 2 weeks of battery life on my DROID X with a single charge and its constantly running at least 20-30 apps.

  • Norm

I get 1 month of battery life on my iPhone 4 because it doesn’t do true multitasking, being able to run no more than 3 apps.

  • Nek

And Norm is not able to make calls, that saves lots of battery life.

  • Lv

I got the update and my battery life went way up, it’s that or I now used Advanced Task Killer to kill everything all the time, before hand thing thing sucked the battery faster than a Frat Boys drinking at a Kegger.

  • tim

LoL the ignorance of people using task killers. They are not needed. They cause more harm than good. You will see. You should read what google, devs, and xda has to say about them. You are interfering with the system, and it will cause system issues. Just fyi: “Running” apps that aren’t being used aren’t running. It’s a placeholder, that’s all. Uses no resources or battery. My EVO never gets below 70 MB of RAM. Btw, Ram is meant to be used, not empty. Ok, enough from me…go learn about the OS you are using, and KILL the task killers!

    • Que??

      Dear Readers,

Listen to to Tim. He is right. I highly recommend rooting your phone and experimenting with different roms and kernel combinations for improved battery life/performance. I am using n_i_x MIUI v0.10.15.0 with the koush kernal and get a solid day of battery life with moderate to high usage. It is very easy to do (especially for you tech savvy BGR readers). If not download Watchdog from the market. There is a free and paid version. It monitors your apps and notifies you when one needs attention.

    Works for me!

  • blahblah

still havent recieved and update whats wrong with this ??

  • david

I have had the droid 2 for about a month now, and haven’t needed to use a task killer once and get a day of battery life out of it, and ask anyone, I never don’t have my phone in my hand. the task killer Interferes with the normal procceses that froyo, not just the droid2 has to kill apps after a certain amount of time that you aren’t using it. I’ve suggested to others they get rid of task killer and their battery life immediately improved. I haven’t gottenn my update yet, but I can’t wait to see how good my battery will be after! P.s. I’ve had my phone off the charger 4 hours and its only at 80, and again, I’ve been surfing the web on my phone for an hour and a half!

    • M

I too, don’t run a task killer but after 1.5hrs of web surfing my battery is way below 80%…

  • brandon

I still haven’t gotten the update yet…what’s goin on

  • Anonymous

    I never got an update?
    WTF?
