U.S. Cellular jumps on Galaxy Tab bandwagon

General

It looks like regional carrier U.S. Cellular will throw its proverbial hat in the Samsung-ring and offer its customers the Galaxy Tab Android device. Most of us, by now, are familiar with the device’s spec sheet — Android 2.2, Flash 10.1, and 7-inch display — what we’re really interested in is the price and launch date of the device; all things the press release lacks. Hit the jump to read what you already know about the Tab and we’ll reach out to U.S. Cellular for a comment on the date and price.

Gotta give USCC credit, they’re trying. They’re still going to be bought out in the next two years though…

      If they last that long…

What worries me about these Android phones is that nothing has quite yet been proven to be an Apple-killer. Even if Android phones are outselling Apple, so many different manufacturers offer Android phones that no one company is going to knock the iPhone off its perch.

Why are you bringing up the iPhone?

  • techjunkieforlife

What I want to know is, why we need a new post (as if it’s news) for every retailer adding a tablet to it’s inventory these days.

It’s not like they have another choice??? What do you want those carriers to sell? JooJoo? Or $100 tablet like the one in Walgreens? This kind of news is just laughable. When Playbook is out, will BR report every carrier who sells it, too? All these products will try to be on as many carriers as possible. How did Samsung sell 5 M Galaxy phone? It’s on every freaking carriers on earth or they just change name and call it something else.

Android vs iOS is really not a fair fight. How to compare the number by devices number? Phone vs Phone or Tablet vs Tablet? Whatever Apple or Google say all in favor their own agenda.

“When Playbook is out, will BR report every carrier who sells it, too? ”

Yeah, they probably will. Assuming you meant BGR and not Banana Republic. They’ve reported all the carriers selling the iPad.

Samsung is coming out with amazing stuff. I have the T-Mobile Vibrant and am just blown away. I’ve had older Samsung things too and it’s been great.

Good for the expansion, but since US Cellular has little subscribers it may not affect them much in the tablet market, but hey the more the merrier!

Okay, USCC def isn’t going to be bought out within the next two years… And my only question is about this Tab is… Can you make actual calls from it? Or is it only the face conference capability? Is it going to be just like a cell phone or am I still going to need my regular Samsung Mesmerize for regular cell calls and the Tab be like a mini laptop that does everything but call out???? I don’t remember reading anything about that yet or finding the info on that part… Please if anyone knows the answer to these questions reply back to me!! Thanks!! BTW, Nice move USCC with the Tab and the Galaxy Mesmerize, I love this phone!
