Apple iPad now available from Verizon Wireless and AT&T

PSA: The Apple iPad can now be purchased online or in stores from both Verizon Wireless and AT&T. As a quick recap, you’ll notice that pricing is the same from both carriers (16GB: $629, 32GB: $729, 64GB: $829) despite the fact that AT&T sells the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G and Verizon Wireless is only selling the iPad Wi-Fi model. This is because Verizon chose to bundle a MiFi 2200 with each iPad. And to stay competitive with AT&T’s iPad deal, Verizon will not require a contract. Instead, the carrier is offering month-to-month data packages of 1GB for $20, 3GB for $35 or 5GB for $50. AT&T’s data packages for the iPad remain unchanged — $15 for 250MB each month, $25 for 2GB, or $30 for unlimited data if you’re grandfathered in. The most important takeaway by far is still the fact that a piece of Apple hardware is now being sold by Verizon Wireless. Needless to say, it bodes well for the future.

      I was told that the iPad is perhaps the worst piece of junk in the history of electronics. The thing that made it worse was that stupid logo in the back.

    I think this will help Apple. No joke, when my dad went to buy my ill mother an iPad he thought it was only available through Best Buy and was frustrated that none had any in stock. He literally DID NOT KNOW apple had it’s own retail stores or it’s own online sales site.

      Because maybe there’s more Verizon stores in certain area’s of certain American cities then Apple stores. Ever stopped and think about that? If Verizon carrying iPad’s blows your mind you better not think about Target and Wal Mart also carrying iPad’s you might hurt yourself.

    Still don’t see why anyone with a laptop and an iphone or ipod touch would want this. Especially with lion on the horizon being able to run app store apps.

      Here’s the thing Apple has actually showed some intelligence in their product lineup. If you want an all in one handset that’s carry in your pocket portable there’s the iPhone. If you don’t want the data contract that comes with it there’s the iPod touch. If you want a more laptop like experience but don’t want to give up the IOS feel there’s the iPad. An if you want a real OS and not the locked down IOS but still want something as portable and quick on as an iPad there’s now the new MacBook Air. I was surprised when I first played around with it. When the refresh was announced I thought it would be underpowered junk but its actually a pretty good hunk of netbook tech considering the processor is old gen.

    Tablets are getting cheaper… likely in one year Apple won’t be able to squeeze big profits from either iPhone or iPad, so they are starting to give better deals to VZ in order to expand.

    Sprint basically promoted the ipad, and carries numerous accessories to go with it. Verizon publicly disses the iphone, yet is the second carrier in the states to have it. NBA is not the only place where amazing happens smh.

        -In a full-page print ad in the New York Times, Verizon showcases the Droid X, an upcoming redesign of its best-selling Droid phone. Amidst a lot of text describing the features of the Droid X, the ad includes the line, “And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.”

        -Their latest commercial trashes the iPhone and its bad 3G coverage, banishing it to the island of useless toys, and says get an HTC phone like the HTC Imagio and get 3G everywhere.

    Who would buy this piece of garbage? Steve Jobs is a P-I-M-P…who else can get their disciples to buy garbage for $800? As with the iPhone, I will wait until the 4th iteration of the iPad to come out before considering it. By then it will have everything it should have had in the first place. People are so stupid!!!!!!!

      Garbage? I understand you want to voice your opinion and sound intelligent, and that’s your right. Rather, your sound quite unintelligent. Garbage devices don’t sell over 7 million units, and bad tech companies don’t have $50 billion in cash-on-hand. Also, Mr. Jobs is one of the most well respected CEO’s. Apple is also heralded as having the best marketing of products of any company.

      I remember when I plunged $30k in Apple stock when it was around $60 a share….who’s loving life now? Those horrible machines from that terrible Apple company netted me well over 100k in pure profit. Try to think before you speak.

      First off, I only paid $599 for my iPad. Secondly, maybe you should THANK the early adopters of these technologies; if the 7 million of us hadn’t bought this itineration of the iPad then the costs to produce will not be driven down and new features could not be added to the device. If you don’t like the iPad go buy yourself a capable Android alternative that has all these features you’re looking for. Oh wait…
