Dell Venue Pro to get an Android-powered twin?

General

It may have come as a surprise to many smartphone enthusiasts — it definitely surprised us — but Dell announced what many believe to be the most attractive Windows Phone 7 launch option when it unveiled the Venue Pro. The sleek device features a portrait-orientated sliding QWERTY keypad, a 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera and the WP7-standard 1GHz processor. According to a PCWorld report, however, Windows Phone 7 users might not be the only group that can look forward to this slick smartphone. Dell is said to have plans to launch “a smartphone resembling the Dell Venue Pro” that runs Android. We would certainly welcome an Android-powered Venue Pro look-alike, but the news is all but confirmed for the time being. When reached for comment, a Dell spokesperson told BGR that the company has not announced anything at this time.

The smartphone has a cool design. Nice to know dell is taking Android seriously.

That would be a first considering Dell’s track record with Android. At least with WM7 MS are in control of the updates.

It means one thing. Modded dual-boot ROMs between WP7 and Android :)

I thing more choice is a good divaricator. But Android has to make a overhauling solution to the fragmentation over the carriers. My studio hasn’t got any plans to go develop for Android at this time. IPhone and Windows Phone 7 are the growing platforms for games this coming year.

The Venue Pro actually looks like a fantastic phone, and this makes it able to dual boot androind and WP7.. Which makes it that much more awesome!

Dell’s new slogan: We are too lazy to design hardware, so we will slap any software on the same hardware.
