Samsung Galaxy Tab and Huawei S7 pre-orders kick off at Best Buy Mobile

Retail

Best Buy announced Monday that three upcoming Android tablets are now available for pre-order. Two versions of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab can be ordered for $599.99 each, and the Huawei Ideos Tablet S7 will cost $299.99 to reserve. None of the aforementioned pre-orders require a contract. Demand for these Android tablets is not expected to be excessive, however interested parties eager to ensure delivery on launch day will be happy to learn that pre-sales are now available. Each Samsung Galaxy Tab version features a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, dual cameras, 16GB of internal storage, a 1GHz processor and the Android 2.2 operating system. The Huawei S7 features a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, dual cameras, microSD support and the Android 2.1 operating system. According to Best Buy’s website, pre-orders of all three tablet options will be delivered as early as November 7th.

Fisher Price has stepped their game up…oh wait, this is for adults…

Huawai S7, does it have North American 3G?

    • superchunk

No, its a WiFi only device.

But it does have two cameras and bluetooth.

Though you have to get your own SD card.

      • todd

this is a 3G enable device

    • todd

yes unlocked 3G voice and HSPA data come with the device.

  • drew

Someone needs to make an app so you can tether your smartphone to the tablet to transfer music and pics and whatnot without having to snyc to computer…

    • superchunk

Isn’t that what the new standard for WiFi is for? … or bluetooth.

    • hubba hubba

….or rooting. I can Wi-Fi tether on my Incredible.

Huawai looks pretty sweet. Would a great around the house device. I don’t think I’d carry any tablet period on the go, but a nice net enabled one for home is not a bad idea… and for $300 that’s a good price.

    • Ted Nugent

I think that 300 is for a “reservation” for the s7. Am I wrong here? How much the actual price is isn’t given. Please correct me if I am wrong.

      • superchunk

I went to BB’s site and it looks like $300 is the price. I didn’t see anywhere that it said anything to the contrary.

See ya in line bud!!! DROID!!

How was Sammy able to do 2.2 on this and can’t get it out for Galaxy S phones?

    • superchunk

Because this was built ground up with 2.2, where as the phones were built with 2.1.

However, I am equally disgusted in the delays with a 2.2 update.

Cool, still have a hard time finding out where a tablet would fit into my needs. I have a smartphone, laptop and an e-reader. So I’ll probably pass on tablets all-together, even the Playbook which so far looks like the best one coming.

  • serpentor

It’s a little off putting not being able to find detailed specs for the S7, but I found some negatives:

    - screen is resistive
    - only takes upto 8GB card (which seems strange)

Hopefully these don’t affect use and performance

    • nope

Resistive touchscreen is most def a dealbreaker.

    • todd

it has an expandable external micro-SD support flash card up to 32GB, IPAD doesn’t have this.

      • serpentor

But they specifically say upto 8GB.

  • Zio

Dose the Huawei have access to the Android Market?

    • todd

yes, android market should be there.

  • Topher86

If I wasn’t so scared of any Huawei device coming to the States, that S7 would be pretty tempting, but alas, Huawei makes pretty janky devices…well for the US at least

  • Mr. Bill

All better than every idevice. Apple sucks.

  • Fronzix’ Dad

My bear, Fronzix said, “This kick stand kicks some arse.”

  • Mack

Huawei sounds like one of those $1.99 fish in the Wal-Mart Pet Section. In fact the fish might outlive this.

$300 for a cheap piece of crappy throw away electronics?

    Ummmm, I don’t think so.

I like Android as much as anyone, but anyone who pays over one benjamin for it might as well show up with a tootsie-roll wrapper on their head.

    ….Cause they’re a sucker

  • Smokin Aces

Why do I get the feeling that these two items won’t be threatening any of the all-time Best Buy Pre-Order Records.
