PlayStation Phone images revealed

General

Feast your eyes, gamers, on what is purported to be none other than the Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone. The handset that has been rumored for what seems like an eternity has finally materialized in a series of images that paint a pretty clear picture. Here’s what we know: the device features a landscape-oriented sliding touchscreen display that exposes dedicated gaming controls. It also runs Android and sports a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, microSD support and a special Sony Marketplace that will be home to games galore. Hit the jump for a few more shots of what could be the gaming phone to end all gaming phones — at least until Microsoft loosens the reigns a bit on its Windows Phone 7 chassis requirements.

    Ahhh… the 2010 N-Gage… nice.

    • TC

      >implying the N-gage ran a decent easy-to-use software like android
      >implying the N-gage didn’t have cardtridges whereas this device will probably have all its games as downloads iphone-style

Playstation phone + PSX4Droid app from the android market = awesome!!!

Can’t wait to play final fantasy on this!

    • Ms. Lady

Y not get the real HD handset that will drop. Honestly a Sony phone sound like crap.. But the gaming portion sounds great. I’ll wait for the HD PSP, and play Final Fantasy on that.

Are those touch-sensitive analogs in the middle? Hmmmmm…

    • Celz

      Yes they are

  • JokerNJ

  • Not Enough

The specs aren’t anywhere good enough for a 2011 device.. I have a G2 and I’m on Android 2.2 and I don’t think I’d want to play a intense graphic video game on it.

this looks like the PSP Go and last years worst android phone had an abortion. WTF.

  • TIM WEST

COmpared to the PSP2 Concept this looks mediocre at best. PSP as a phone should sport specs running a 2Ghz/1Gb RAM, probably asking much be that it’s a phone but hey why not! Sony is more then capable to bring specs that are by means ahead of the current generic standard that phones are plague with it such as 1Ghz/512MB RAM.. All in All PSP Phone with better specs and longer battery = A definite WIN WIN!!! IMO…

  • Jason

Um, this is some lame photo trickery. Why did the battery go from red to full in just one minute. O, I see, it went back in time to 1980.

  • So Official

This is funny because the only game I ever feel like playing on my phone is brick breaker (i’m being serious). When you get the laser it’s so fun.

  • Gazoobee

Either the two systems are not *really* blended, or Sony is about to lose Android formatted images of every single PSP game they ever made. Once that happens, why not just play them on the Android phone you already have?

  • http://killinggames365.com/ Sam

I really don’t understand Sony they know that the smart phone market is basically Apple vs Android why spend so much money on R&D when they could just use Android as their platform.

Dude, usually helps if you read the article before commenting?!

That looks cool! PS fans will definitely buy that, PSP and phone in one! Awesome creation!

That’s what competition does, microsoft with the xbox 360 live on their wp7, free cloud services and zune intergration have encouraged apple to make their cloud services free and now this from sony. I am loving it.
