FCC blesses CDMA, HTC, Windows Phone 7 Device; is it the 7 Pro?

It looks like the FCC has just green-lighted a new Windows Phone 7 handset for the U.S. market. The FCC’s report has nearly zero details about the recently approved device aside from the fact that it is made by the Taiwanese handset giant, runs Windows Phone, and packs a CDMA radio. If we had to speculate, we would guess this is the HTC 7 Pro we saw several weeks ago in New York City at the Windows Phone 7 launch event. The device we saw was not working — as in it wouldn’t even power on — and Microsoft has been pretty vocal in saying there would be no CDMA Windows Phone 7 handsets before January 1. Does this mean that the WP7 CDMA timetable has been accelerated? We doubt it, but there’s always hope…

    Where is CDMA iPhone? I think that news will be more exciting then this one. Everyone knows that WP7 and Android are going to have a new model every 36 hours anyway and all looks like iPhone w or w/o keyboard. All have cheap and plastic looking, so don’t really care. How come before Apple’s Brick looking iPhone, no one ever came out with something looked like iPhone?? After iPhone era, now pretty much all phones look like iPhone just either big brick with keyboard or small brick w/o keyboard. Come on where are all the creative industrial designer?? Oh, that’s right they all go to work for Apple…. :(

      When the iPhone came out it was shaped a lot like the HTC WinMo I already had. Oh & the CDMA iPhone u want so bad is coming 2 Verizon, 4 real, 4 real this time. As well as the iPad w/ wireless service.

    Why can’t I get a keyboard like this on an Android? I know, I know. I’m using my keyboard less than half the time thanks to Swype and speech-to-text, but sometimes the keyboard is the only way. And isn’t Android all about having options?

    As a TP2 owner, these specs would’ve been great with Winmo, I’m still not sold on WP7.

    If only HTC would have released an Android device sporting the internals of the Evo (or better, ditch that shite GPU Qualcomm) in a slimmed-down TP2 package, best-ever-on-a-phone keyboard and all. Kind of like this, without the MS failfest that is WP7.

    And for what it’s worth I was a WinMo user for years, no regrets.
