Motorola DROID Pro launching on Verizon Wireless for $299?

mobile

According to Droid-Life, yes. They seem to have come across a public test webpage URL on Verizon’s site that show the pricing for the soon-to-be launched Motorola DROID Pro at $299 with 2 year service agreement. Now, it’s possible the price is just a placeholder, but $299 for a primarily business-aimed handset wouldn’t be out of bounds in our opinion. Especially with global roaming capability. Thoughts?

Well I think that’s absolutely preposterous

I need that freaking phone now, I don’t care how much is it!

  • George

$200 is the magic price point. $250 is plausible. At $300 you’re pricing out a lot of people.

    • Oh yes he jus did(ruh)

Handsets like this that are sold in the UK or Europe are be free with 2 yr contract. Anything above $0 prices out a lot of people.

But, but, I thought $199.99 was the magic price? I see it, I am being charged for the ability to roam outside the US, something that was standard on the original RAZR. Ok, go ahead , charge me.

    • menno

The original cdma razor didn’t roam internationally. The original razor was also very pricey

    • George

The RAZR was priced so high because of its design, not because of its roaming capabilities.

      • Oh yes he jus did(ruh)

It’s design?? Right, and the iPhone4 really ISN’T free of charge with a new contract…. with UK/EU carriers.

299 is a little steep. I agree with the 200 (or 199.99) valuation

May as well buy it off contract…

  • eddie

Would rather buy a torch on vzw

  • brianw

You guys are ridiculous. Its probably 299.99 with a 100.00$ mail in rebate, or instant online. Lots of devices are sold like this.

    • brianw

Just remember this is a test site for the pro.

    • menno

All droids don’t have instant rebates anymore

  • protege

It’s probably the price before the rebate….

  • skyy_flyer

Chances are weighing that this will be aimed at mostly businesses who buy them in bulk and give them to hundreds/thousands of employees and get a break in the phone price anyway. Let’s be honest, how many normal people travel outside the US multiple times a month where global capability/compatibility(aimed also at the GSM world standard believers) is an actual important factor in buying the phone? Either way, Verizon does offer rentals for those who do travel outside the US. Just saying.

    • SKINNI

Agreed. This should be a non factor to people who only travel across town. Hell i travel out of country about once or twice a year & i sleep with my phone but global capability isnt that crucial to me

  • Mr.Bill

A $100 off of each year of contract is not bad, in Canada it would only get $50 off of each year of contract an for a limited time sale another $50 off.

  • J

It doesn’t include the mail in rebate…just as all the droid phones are 300 w/ mir…no longer instant rebate online for these phones…just not included in the price on this site…trust me …the final price will be 200 after mir for this phone

  • MONOPOLY MAN

Look at all the cry babies whining about $300 for a phone LOOOL Probably because they all know this phone is junk.

  • dwayne

I wish all smartphones were capped at $100.

    • blkrabb1t

The extra $100-$200 that you pay upfront is nothing compared to the amount that you will spend in your contract.

      Just saying…

      • Oh yes he jus did(ruh)

Horseshit. The “extra $200″ is the wool over your sheep (American) eyes. Move to the UK & get an iPone4 or BBerry, or any smartphone 100% free with a new contract & pay about 1/3 of what you pay now per month. The fact is Americans just don’t have a clue how much they SHOULD be paying for mobiles & service.

  • Droid doesn’t

    299 = droid killer

  • iamajim

    Too much.

  • Scooby

$200 max or T2 in December

  • Len

“$299 for a primarily business-aimed handset wouldn’t be out of bounds in our opinion”

However, we at BGR think it’s ridiculously out of bounds to buy a Torch at $199.

  • Man

I sure am thirsty – oh look, Hater-Ade!

  • Come on

Too too much. Gsm should be unlocked then! (for us market that is)

  • Christy

$199 is the magic price point.

Probably lots of bugs, and other early adopter issues, so squeezing an extra $50 – $100 out of paying users can back fire at a premium!
