Gingerbread man stands tall in Mountain View, release imminent?

General

No major Android update is complete without the customary unveiling of its dessert statue. The Googlers have uploaded a YouTube video showing them taking delivery, and erecting, the much-awaited Gingerbread man. Gingerbread is the next iteration of Android and was previously believed to be enumerated as “3.0.” Recent reports have suggested Gingerbread might be referred to as Android 2.3; according to a Google employee 2.3 is a “major release.” Whatever it may be numbered, the latest version is believed to bring a re-worked GUI, native video chat and VoIP calling, amongst other new features. The official release date is still unknown, but our money is on sooner rather than later. Hit the break to watch the Gingerbread man and Froyo in peaceful co-existence at Google’s HQ.

I would get excited about this but only if Moto and VZW didn’t take a really long time to push it to my Dx.

It would be sweet if they would give you the option to download the stock 3.0 when it’s released or wait for the phone makers custom 3.0. Especially since some of us Android users don’t want the phone makers 3.0 skins.

It’s cool that it’s being released. But like Matthew said; it’s going to be a while before the carriers jump on it. I guess you can root it, but what’s the sense?

Then when the carriers are ready, they’ll have some other thing out….like licorice…lol

Thank god I live in Santa Rosa and don’t have to drive by dumb ass shit like that.

You know what would be cool though is if some taggers from the San Jose Hood would do a cool “Do No Evil” on him.

What will be really nice is if Google put some power management coding in Android, you know like what Apple did with the iPhone, I would have to say i give it up to Apple when it comes to power management, that phone could last for days, literary DAYS with out being charged, only if My Evo could do that
