AT&T, Microsoft offer free perks to Windows Phone 7 buyers

Services

Microsoft announced last week that it would be giving away free 3-month Zune Passes to customers who sign up for Windows Phone 7 pre-order notifications and then go on to place pre-orders. AT&T apparently wants in on the action as well, as the carrier plans to give away a free “Entertainment Pack” with each Windows Phone 7 device purchase. The pack consists of a 1-month Zune Pass with 10 free song downloads, a month of U-verse Mobile service and a free copy of the 3-D puzzle game ilomilo. The deal sounds pretty sweet, though takers should note that unless the service is canceled, they will automatically get charged a $10 monthly subscription fee after their free 30-day U-verse Mobile trials expire. Ahhh… nothing like a good old fashioned Columbia House scam to welcome people to the new Windows Phone 7 family.

Competition sparks innovation. I may not want a Windows Phone, but the more features they come up with, the more features Android/iPhone/Web OS are bound to get.

“Scam”? What a shame that haters will continue to find fault in anything related in any way to Microsoft. Free offers for a limited period of time is in every nook and cranny of the business world especially here in the US so what makes this different? Why is this a “scam” when it is mainly to get users to at least experience the many features of WP7 without the initial risk of spending just for that especially when they can cancel thereafter (not like they will be locked in in any way)?
It just makes you sound stupid that you don’t understand simple business introduction

where i do agree with you that BG shouldn’t have knocked it right out of the gate, i do have to side with the scam part. A recent study said about 73% of cellular customers don’t read their itemized bill and just pay it. so many people wont even use this but still pay the $10 thinking its just apart of their rate. Expecially since the first bill is prorated there for much higher and the second one that this service will show up on is their first actual bill. so they’ll assume the price is right.

I have at Sprint, and she told me they trick people about their bill…like customer service saying they will take off a charging fee but they really don’t, they just say it so you will get off the phone and you can give them a good rating for commission. All a hustle

Verizon has a thing called trueups. if you sell someone a phone or feature. and they remove or cancel it within 6 months. they take back your commission out of your paycheck. makes sure we don’t hustle people and get them what they want.

It’s not a scam if you’re told what to expect from the get-go…
