BlackBerry Bold 9780 artifacts appear on RIM's website

General

If you’re one of those people who still prefer the brutal, sometimes primitive, efficiency of a BlackBerry device, listen up. It looks like RIM is starting to get their proverbial ducks in a row for a 9780 launch in the near future. One of our readers was kind enough to point out the mention of the Bold 9780 on RIM’s official website. Links to a “9780 Demo” and “9780 Announcement” are visible on the 9700′s support page… for the time being. The links don’t yield any interesting results, but it certainly is a good sign for those waiting for the handsets release. T-Mobile launched the 9700 ahead of AT&T earlier this year, which carrier do we think is getting the device first this time?

Thanks, T.D.!

Your first sentence doesn’t deserve a response, do you have squished apple crap on your nose from being so far up Jobs’ you know what?

    • Andrew Munchbach

      I apologize if I’ve offended you :)

        Freedom of speech.

      @rocker

You’d have no problems if they hated on apple rite? You can’t have it both ways.

    • ?

I think you have Eric Schmidts jizz on your chin

Rim is at it again….with nothing innovative as usual. When will they realize that professionals and businessmen also want newer more sleek designs and better specs to help them perform better in their occupations?

They might as well let boost mobile have this phone too. LOL

When are you kids going to realize that we don’t have time to play with you and your stupid games? If your life ever becomes important (which it probably won’t), you will understand.

Hmmm, another anti-RIM article. I honestly don’t visit this site for “news” cuz quite frankly, ur writers are so biased it’s not even worth it.

But who am I kidding, iPhone and Android scream efficiency…

    • mn

Note to all “offended” users. Everyone is entitled to an opinion

My Android is so efficient, it lasts me a whole 12 hours with the brightness turned all the way down, wifi off, and no widgets running in the background. It SCREAMS!

On the other hand, my berry only lasts me 2 full day while getting tons of emails, phone calls, texts, and data. I hate it.

ATT launched the device first not TMobile

    • Andrew Munchbach

You sure? I had a T-Mobile unit like 2 months before we could even get an AT&T unit from RIM? There was some weird snafu with manufacturing or something?

  • Eddie Dollaz

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..cough (rolls over)….zzzzzzzz

  • Greg Gebhardt

It does not matter if ATT launches after T-Mo as T-Mo has no coverage unless you go outside! LOL!

  • Max

Again who gives a shit. Really. That first sentence is very true. You have to be a simpeton to truly appreciate the Blackberry. Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan. You’re in the company of ‘geniuses’ when you use a Blackberry. Think you’d ever catch them with a Droid? They wouldn’t even know how to unlock it. You know, just like your average Blackberry Moron wouldn’t know how to either.

    • Len

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t iPhones and Androids more geared for simpletons? Afterall, can’t 3 year olds and 90 year olds use them?

    • DaveMira

      doesn’t Obama use a Blackberry?

    • Andrew

Seriously? Grow up, Max. Your blatant attack on Blackberry users is immature and has absolutely no basis. To say that an entire group of users are “simpletons” and “morons” simply because they use the same phone as some celebrities is outright childish. Plenty of normal, intelligent people use a Blackberry because they don’t need bells and whistles and just want effective communication. I can attest to this, as I was an iPhone user for 3 years until just recently switching to Blackberry, and I’m very happy with my decision. And by the way, not only can I unlock an Android phone, but I can root one too. Now go back to your playpen, the grown-ups are talking.

Give this phone to boost mobile! RIM needs to make a storm 3, more torch like devices, not refreshes. I want to see qnx os on blackberries now! Why the hell do we have to wait?

This war should be between qnx, android, and meego.

Apple is american (too locked down)

  • Mr. Bill

Artifacts, seems suiting though, to the design philosophy.

  • Bobby Dobbins

    I thought AT&T and T-Mobile both launched the 9700 in late 2009, Nov 17th for AT&T?

  • fidel castro

Screw blackberry 6, I want qnx os on a torch pronto!!! Damn canadians!!!

  • X Glansburg

Why are you guys blasting munchbach for speakitry the truth? Blackberrys haven’t changed much in recent history and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just boring if you are into the latest and greatest.

    • X Glansburg

Touch screen fail. Meant speaking there not speakitry…..

      • Grego

You just proved everyone’s point. There is definitely a place for a full keyboard BlackBerry in this world. People need efficiency without mistakes and that’s why smart business people use BlackBerrys.

  • Len

Efficiency is completely subject to who uses the device so speaking on behalf of all bb users and calling their device inefficient is kind of immature on the writer’s part and screams fanboy. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone in public on an iphone or android doing anything productive, but I won’t question those device’s efficiency.

Yes it may not look nice and shiny, but BB gets the job done.

  • BD

The BB 9780 is a great refresh of a great selling device. I can see if you guys fault BB for charging the same data plan rates for an inferior web browser experience ie smaller screen, non touch, etc. But to fault the productivity or innovation is another story. Every time BGR prints a BB 9780 article it’s the same complaints, why not go to an iPhone or Android article and actually post something productive/helpful to the readers?

    • Grego

Exactly, some people want to have options that don’t include a slider of a full touch screen device. This phone will sell and RIM will continue to make profits.

Also, the new browser is pretty close to the iPhone’s and Android’s browsing experience.

  • Steve

Wow…deleting comments that you don’t like now. You truly have turned into self-serving and biased pumpers, BGR.

  • billyblonco

Well it looks like the “announcing the 9780″ was a forum topic made by a member in their forums section.
