Limera1n now available for Mac and PC

Geohot’s iOS 4.x jailbreaking utility limera1n has been available for Windows since 10/10/10 and now, thanks to some handy coding, it is available for the Mac as well. The one-click jailbreak utility can be downloaded free of charge from limera1n.com; geohot does ask for voluntary donations to keep the project alive. If you give it a whirl let us know how it goes.     Because of this release, greenpois0n wasn’t released. i tried the JB on my 3GS running iOS 4.1 and…fail. 5 times in a row, each time a fresh restore. I’ll be waiting for 4.2 greenpois0n JB I suppose.

        Thank you sir, I did not know that! I also thought 4.x reffered to 4.1 as well. According to macgasm.net,

        “Both jailbreaks work with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the iPad; however, see below for the firmware revs each supports:

        * limera1n – use for iOS 4.0, 4.0.1, and 4.0.2 devices
        * greenpois0n – use for iOS 4.1 devices only

        That being said, I have iOS 4.1 on my iPhone 4 and still tried limera1n yesterday, and NO, it did not work (I’m stubborn like that and still had to try).”

        So did I…no wonder it didn’t work.

        Huh? I have 4.1 on my iPhone 4 and used limera1n for Mac today. A little buggy in getting it going, but seems fine. I had to restore my apps 3x.

      I think you did it wrong. I jailbroke my 3gs lastnight with limera1n, no problems at all, just follow the app.

    Worked great and has been stable and good for the last week. I jailbroke on windows and it wouldn’t work until I installed iTunes on windows.

    BTW the greenpo1son jb that you can use is not the SHAtter exploit, but another tool to exploit the same hole that limera1n does.

    Worked fine for me on my 3GS after I upgraded to 4.1

    Only thing I’ve noticed is battery life sucks. Same on my wife’s who’s not jailbroken and on 4.1

    there is no use of making limera1n for the mac. In fact it should not be made for any operating system. I tried to jailbreak 6 different devices using the program but the program would say that the jailbreak is successful when I reboot the device twice and it’s still the same. I tried GreenPoison a few hours after it was released and it worked on each the device the first try. So what if Green Poison is 5 mb and Limera1n is only 1 mb. At least GreenPoison actually works. This is just my honest opinion. If anyone agrees with me for any reason een if it’s not written here, then like or reply to this comment

    how do I install it?? i tried and I think it failed….. the screen went black and then appeared a USB cable with a sign to the iTunes symbol… and when I tried to open the iTunes, it ‘told’ me that I should restore it and update to version 4.0.2
    now I dont know how can I install the limera…. please help
