Boost Mobile launches 'Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage' plans

General

Typically, the word “shrinkage” isn’t a good thing, however… if you’re a wireless provider it could actually be a selling point. Today, Sprint announced a new program known as “Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage” for its Boost Mobile prepaid customers. As Boost’s website explains:

Boost will lower your monthly payment by $5 for every 6 on-time payments. Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage customers can shrink their monthly payments from $50 to as low as $35/month. BlackBerry Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage customers can lower their monthly payments from $60 to as low as $45/month.

The idea seems pretty ingenious, trying to retain budget conscious consumers using value-based incentives. The offering is available for both new and existing customers and all that is required is an on-time payment. Hit the read link to check out the potential savings.

cuz they are a real phone company

So what makes them a fake company? Cheap service plans?

I dont see why other companies arent following suite, although we know if they did eventually the rate plans would reverse again. It happened years ago when cell phones became commonplace in our society. If Boost/Sprint had decent service in Shreveport id be all over it if i could use a EVO/Captive. Unfortunately im a sucker for high end phones & need bars so i pay the Verizon premium & prepay with them is absurd

    Shrinkage
    LOL!

This is a fairly clever way for Sprint to try to reduce their prepaid churn rate on Boost.

Very smart idea decision makers at boost. If only you would share some of ur genious with the douches at sprint.

      BOOST “IS” Sprint’s Brand Buddy.

Sprint just cares more about Boost because it’s where they made all their $ until the Evo came around. Prepaid customers increased while their postpaid contracts were in the toilet.

I get shrinkage far often these days.

    Elaine-”It shrinks”?
    Jerry-”Like a frightened turtle”
Elaine-”I don’t know how you guys walk around with those things”.

Although “bill shrinkage” is something I could handle.

If you think about this it’s really brilliant.

The way the company makes their money is probably on people who don’t take full advantage of the term “unlimited”.

I’ve been using a Boost Prepaid on the monthly unlimited plan and the coverage is great.

By lowering the monthly fee for longevity you also keep people loyal and heck once I reach the $35/mo level I’d think long and hard before discontinuing service.

    Smart move.

This is actually how CONTRACT plans should work. The longer you are with them, the more they reward loyalty, and the less subsidy phone needs to be paid – so they recoup their subsidy, and give us a break.

T-Mo allows you to pay a $35 fee after 1 yr of your 2 yr contract to opt in to “Even More Plus” which is their Non-Contract plan and is $30/mo cheaper for a family plan. Can’t wait for my anniversary date. I’d rather buy the phones outright and pay less per month.

45 bucks is still too much for a phone that can be bought on the checkout line at Best Buy…

  • Dave

I bet they will raise the price of service $5 every 6 months.

In all seriousness, this is a good deal maybe Ill have to buy an EVO flashed for boost.

  • Moose

I wonder if I gave Boost $900.00 (18 Months of Service @ $50) upfront, if they would give me the $35 rate from the inception of the service.

That would be a great deal as it would provide more than 2 years of unlimited service for $900…

i guess they haven’t seen that seinfeld episode

Gotta give it to Sprint…they really are the Peoples Carrier.

  • Jay

Is this a one time thing or does the bill shrink permenantly after 6, 12, and 18 months?

  • Max Sandoval

I’m with Boost right now and just signed up for this. More people will join Boost, but they need a better Android phone than the Motorola i1 on the iDen (get it, iThen?) network…

If they don’t come out with a better phone, count me in for Virgin’s Samsung Intercept!

    • kyle

I am with boost allready over 18 mos so I ask if they will give me a better price since I allready been loyal for over 18 mos they told me flat out no no no so bottom line is this i have boost and joe smo gets new boost today we both get 35 a mos in 18 mos but it took me 36 for it and how is that fair hum im not happy with boost nothing for us long time customers at all did any of you think of that one
