Vertu Constellation Quest PR video released

General

Remember that four to seven thousand dollar Vertu Constellation Quest handset BG was drooling over we told you about over the weekend? Well, it looks like the company’s PR firm has posted a short YouTube video detailing just what makes the luxurious handset worth a king’s ransom. Aside from the trimmings we told you about last time — sapphire keys, gold accents, etc. — each device is hand-made and hand-polished to provide the level of luxury Vertu customers have come to expect. The device runs the Symbian operating system, and, as the company’s president explains, is for people who want to express their lifestyle and success with the mobile device. Hit the jump to see just what a multi-thousand dollar Symbian handset looks like.

    hi.

    • Meanie

      hello

  • rusty

I’ll keep my DX and spend the rest on coke and russian hookers..

  • AT33

Looks nice! I would trade in my iPhone 4 for that!

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

You realize most Vertu phones START at around $5,000.00, and go as far as $20,000.00?

You better be trading 10 to 40 iPhones for this puppy. LOL! I guess you missed the part about each button being a small sapphire gem…

      • blkrabb1t

$5-20k? That’s a lot of hookers and blow, even if he did pay the full retail price for the Droid X. :D

  • reason

looks like Blackberrys french cousin.. really hot but smells musty.

  • SaDudE

The phone looks pretty sweet to me, I am curious what symbian this is running but most likely this will be S60V3 FP2, if this got symbian^3 that would be crazy

Reminds me of an E71 but seriously more refined, I like how they put the headphone jack right in the middle.

The material they use is impressive.

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

Its not a touch device, so it’s obviously 3rd Edition.

    • blkrabb1t

Vertus are usually verry low spec. So I’d be suprised if it even ran anything above S40.

  • GN

    looks ghetto to me

    • GN

the guys that if/when pick this device up, are the same guys that are driving around in the old Cutlas and Broughams, and dont forget the Cadillac dudes either…rofl

      • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

I doubt you’ll see a jeweler’s build quality device in any ghetto. These phones sell for far too much, and will outprice most cars you see in the hood. smh…

Guess you don’t know much about Vertu. Its out of your league. Queens and celebrity stars use these phones.

      • Steve Jabroni

I remember some story way back when about Mario Andretti (I think?) losing his Vertu phone.
And Ugly ass Madonna had one of these.
        So there you go.

        And the world keeps turning…

    • GN

wonder if this company will throw in the Mr T rope neck chain, to hang this device from also…getting the visual now….man this coffee is good…:p

  • GN

actually…looks like my 9700…I bet RIM was well on there way to this look..these guys just beat them to it:p

  • michaele

What a freaking joke. And it runs Symbian? Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Morons haven’t got a chance. Even Paris coke whore Hilton wouldn’t buy it.

    • Tim

Sorry to say but the likes of Paris do buy these things, and they sell well, just not to the likes of you and me. Though the big business comes from Russian billionaires and middle east oil tycoons.

    • Shanghai Dan

It’s not about the OS, it’s all about the one-touch concierge service that comes with the phone. Why do you need to map your next bar, or check your e-mail for the update from your jet? Touch the concierge button, and ask THEM to do it for you.

It’s about making a phone that has great sound quality, extreme prestige, and the ultimate in convenience – a living, breathing person at your beck and call to do whatever you request, including making reservations at the next big restaurant, arrange flowers to your aunt’s birthday, or to tell the butler to get the dry cleaning.

  • WP7

LOL. That V coming down over the top of the screen better be real sharp if it’s gonna be useful as a blade. It’s there as a preventative measure for over-zealous notification-bar swipers.

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

uh, its NOT a touch device, hence the buttons and DPad.

  • techjunkieforlife

Well lots of people buy a Toyota at the Lexus store and this is not any different, shame there in no true Bentley’s in the cell phone market to drool over.

    • Topher86

Under the surface, what’s the difference between a Bentley and a Honda Accord? An Accord lasts longer, that’s the dif. Point is, luxury items aren’t really about the tech as much as it’s about the materials used; unless the tech is suppose to be what makes that item luxurious in the first place..ala Mercedes Benz. But even then, there’s already a Merc of the phone industry..the iPhone..Mr.Status Symbol w/ all the goodies.

      • techjunkieforlife

I would like that Honda Accord to match a Bentley to 200mph in whisper quiet comfort seriously, you make my point really I’m talking performance not so much finish thou that plays into it. There is a fast difference between those cars btw.

In audio and video you can spend tens of thousands on “premium” equipment that is technically superior to all else. There is no such thing in cellular, a grand is about all you can spend on handset, as you say Apple has that right now. Just think if there was a company pushing the edge making phones with no limit to the consumer cost and the cutting edge components used, think like a PC gaming rig in your hand. Small market yes, but that’s why it’s going to cost so much not just some bling, if you get my point now.

      • will

now i get what your saying, and totally agree. but the problem is size and battery life. gaming laptops are big and battery eaters. people wont spend that kind of money on a phone that either dies in an hour or doesnt fit in their pockets. and honestly, besides a super camera or 2ghz processor, the iphone has the best touch technology. (not the best phone, but best touch screen)

    • GN

I thought that is what Nokia is for:p

      • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

        Nokia OWNS Vertu. smh…

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

Vertu IS the Bentley/Rolls Royce of phones. Where have you been? Go to a Rolls dealer, and you’re bound to see a Vertu from time to time. Every person I’ve seen with a Vertu (three in my entire life) owned a Rolls or Ferrari, and one owned both. Some of those phones are $20k!

      • techjunkieforlife

But they are the SAME phone as the Nokia version in a new skin, I can buy a diamond encrusted iPhone but that does not make it a Bentley. Just because something costs more it does not make better, just more exclusive.

Just because Vertu is all these people have to turn to, it does not make that phone actually any better. Just the look and feel of it.

      • Steve Jabroni

yeah, that’s the difference. When you pay for a Ferrari, you are most certainly paying for something more than just your avg car.

When you pay for a Vertu, you’re just paying for last year’s dumbphone bejeweled in rubies and diamonds.

  • Topher86

….and then you leave your sapphire button’d out phone in the cab on the way home from that office party where you hooked up w/ the sandwich lady w/ that weird mole above her lip that looks sorta like two small moles merged into one lumpy big mole…but she had nice eyes and you were kinda drunk…

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

Vertu owners don’t ride cabs. Think Gulfstreams, limos, and chauffers.

      • Topher86

        …where’s your imagination =/

  • GN

when I say im serious about taking the r2-d2 special edition buck rogers device over this one…maybe I just didnt kill enough of this pot of Joe yet….dunno…

  • Bryan

I wish there was a luxury mobile manufacturer that actually made phones that were worth giving a damn about.

Symbian? Really? Good luck with that.

A Droid Pro ‘esque device made with the same level of craftsmenship would be really notable. This is just disappointing.

    • Tim

The operating system means nothing to the owner of these. The importance is being seen with it, and the services it comes with.

Droid – who cares when you have a button that can get you a restaurant booking in the most exclusive place in town, or call your limo to take you to your private jet which will be fuelled and ready to go. Don’t have a private jet? The concierge will get one for you anyway and have it ready.

Frankly Symbian is fine enough for what these people use it for. Don’t forget they’ll have one or more of these, plus an iPhone, Droid, and Blackberry. They don’t care, but bring out a scratched up plastic iPhone/Droid on the red carpet and the fashion police will be down on them.

  • alrescha

it’s obvious you guys don’t appreciate nice peace of jewelery which this phone is.
i suspect none of you can afford it. for the people who are interested in owing such a device, it represents a status symbol. and that alone is worth a lot..

    symbian!?
why not? it has many functions other mobile os-es don’t, and above all, it is very stable and solid.

vertu IS nokia, do not forget that.
many of you from US don’t appreciate nokia much.
    you are wrong.
it really is the best phone maker in the world.
lets say that 3 years ago i had a nokia n95 8gb with more functions than todays phones like htc, iphone, samsung and others..
it was and still is amazing phone with its durability, built quality, as well as functions. the only thing it does not have is touch screen.

    • ?

if you need to buy a phone for status, your just as lame as the company..
      phones are not jewelry..

      • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

All sapphire buttons, leather and jewels? Why isn’t it jewelry? This thing is built with watchmaker precision and quality, works, and doesn’t break when you drop it like an iPhone.

      • ?

things break when you drop it…its part of gravity.

    • Draz

@alrescha – I agree 100%.. Nokia is building quality over quantity.. and iphone IMO are overrated, mostly used by amateurs or girls..
if you can’t afford a vertu, you don’t have to hate on it..

      • ?

im not sure where you get that from, I see plenty people of all backgrounds with the iphone…

    • http://symbian-freak.com christexaport

They also don’t realize the Vertu phones come with a concierge service that caters to the ultra rich as part of the price.

  • doublejizzle

Very nice. Multi thousand dollar is not my market for a cell phone, but i can appreciate the craftsmanship

  • mugsya

ehhh, i stil think my evo is better!!

  • Ion

    Does it blend?

  • Ed

The wealthy buy these phones because they know YOU can’t! They know they won’t see some Jersey Shore 20 something texting on it. Expensive things are about exclusivity not what operating system or how many apps there are. It’s about setting themselves apart from the common person, buying something & having it because you’re only 1 of a few who can.

BTW your code word “ghetto” doesn’t fool anyone, why don’t you just say, “It looks to black for me” Or use the word you use in the privacy of your own home, you know the “N” word. Don’t hide behind it by trying to slick & say, “Ghetto”.

    • will

i dont know where you live ed, but their are plenty of white, black, hispanic, asian, and russian “ghetto” people. i feel your the one who uses the n word.

      • nyclady

yeah there are a ton of ghetto people of multiple races.. like you mentioned Jersey Shore 20 somethings…they are ghetto and they are white. its a rainbow baby, people are humans and you will find rich and poor/ghetto and cultured of all backgrounds.

    • lurch

Uh oh. Nobody say anything else. You’re all racist!

In all seriousness, “ghetto” doesn’t mean “black”. Your post comes off as insane. Also, (mind you, I don’t speak that way in my own house) how do you know how somebody you’ve never met speaks in the privacy of their own home? More importantly, should somebody not be free to speak however they wish within the privacy of their own home? Where did your extremely judgemental rant come from?

I suggest Midol. It really does help.

  • iamajim

I dunno….for people with more money than brains I guess, not to mention taste. Looks like some kind of ruggedized BB if you ask me, like Casio got ahold of a Pearl and juked real bad.

  • debbie barnes

    I saw beyonce with one

  • pheer6224

For 20 grand it had better run Crysis…

  • necesar

In scurt timp o sa-l vedeti pe Constellation Quest la tiganii magraoni manelisti din Romania. E perfect pentru ei ! Ca si masinile alb-lapte >:)
