General

Today, HP announced that AT&T’s Palm Pixi Plus would — finally — be getting the webOS 1.4.5 update. The new bits add several new bug fixes and, most notably, add support for Palm’s Plug-in Developer Kit (PDK). Hit the “Updates” application on your AT&T Pixi to manually grab the new code.

I thought all carriers dropped Palm devices because of poor sales? Why bother with updating it at this point.

Wake me up when they port DROID onto it for the VZW version.

with windows phone 7 coming in this already crowded market, palm will fade away… too bad, it was nice though. if they don’t get in to the tablet market fast, then i won’t see palm brand anymore, only hp

I have an iPhone 4, but I love webOS…I’m thinking of getting the Pre Plus…

Don’t. It’s like “iPhone Lite”, and with only a tiny fraction of the apps. And the keypad on the Pre stinks.

Who cares? Palm is dead! Android, iPhone or Blackberry news please. P.S. Win 7 will not catch on unless they deliver something really revolutionary, so far getting access to my Xbox live account is not it.

Not for nothing..the Web os is one of the best in the market. If they would update their equipment that would be able to compete with anyone in the….that includes apple.

My wife picked the Palm Pixi (over my recommendation of the iPhone)

She went through 3 Palm Pixi’s in a month before finally relenting and getting the iPhone.

Palm Pixi is a POS, but maybe this update will fix it’s problems.

    • GN

      seriously now…..3 in a month??

They WERE the best, but Palm took so long to get this OS out on the street that Android passed them in a blur of new features and developers. Now WebOS is irrelevant.

  • GN

from alot of the comments made about this webos, why do I get this creepy feeling, they are in cahoots with RIM

Palm went out in the 90′s

people know nothing, but your not supposed to right? most of these post sound like lost sheep following each other. Fact is HP and Palm will be releasing 5 new designs at CES with a tablet. We all know the money the Number 1 computer maker in the world has, and they intend on backing Palm and Webos fully. Palm had issue only because of money now that they have it, with the BEST OS in the game what makes anyone think they will fade away. So yes you will see slabs, vertical and horizontal sliders, first Q2011 running a super optimized webos 2.0 with specs that only HP can get their hands on (im talking Omap4440 chipset clocked at 1.5ghz). They will also have a refreshed device for the holidays of the Pre called the Pre 2 or roadrunner running 1ghz a glass screen redifined design, and higher specs with webos 2.0. Though why talk about it, because once a small company called palm being kicked when their down, comes together with the worlds biggest bully (HP…yes the worlds biggest) everyone here will be jumping on the wagon, especially with the Pics we have seen of these new devices for next year. I can say HTC will have to bring their A game when they see these 5 new devices.

FYI for pixi owners if you dont plan on upgrading to newer devices, our internals will be releasing a kernel shortly to overclock it to over 900mhz. Go to Precentral.net for more information thanks.
