Verizon Wireless will have 'interactive launch' of BlackBerry 6 on October 14

Exclusive

Hey, what do we have here? One of our Verizon sources was kind enough to send us this piece of intel regarding Verizon Wireless and BlackBerry 6. It looks like the company plans of having an “interactive launch” of the BlackBerry 6 operating system on Thursday, October 14. The word interactive makes us think that the actual software bits may not be available, however, at minimum, this indicates a BB6 launch is right around the corner. We’ll keep digging and report what we find.

This is good news if they are finally releasing os6 to vzw customers. I couldn’t wait, I already put it on my 9650, it runs like a champ. They are prob also showing the new clamshell flip bb. Which if it’s anything like the pearl flip, will be gone in a hot minute.

I had a Torch. I bought it the day after the release and after 2 weeks I took it back. OS 6 was a downright disappointment. It has 4 groupings along the bottom and I found myself constantly scrolling looking for things. It was overkill and gave me no way to reduce those groups. The phone also would continually unlock itself in my pocket. You could set up a password but that is a pain.

what are groupings? and is it worth getting the torch? or wait for a new bb?

    • Tdot34

So full of it. Guess what I bought an Iphone today, I couldn’t stand it, FML, so I took it back to get BB, because I actually use more than facebook and youtube. blah blah blah, Troll.

I think you left some letters out of your profile name Tidiot34. Sorry you are a doubter, I left out the part concerning the plastic green/red cover peeling off. If I’m labeled a Troll for tellling my story – so be it.

One thing that has never changed. Verizon is always the last to have the most popular phones.

Really? Now I know t mobile had the G1 first…buttttt i’m pretty sure people are crapping themselves over all the “droids” that have been on vzw??? But hey i’m wrong every once and a while.

Fanboys hate BB cuz of the bb storm fail……it’s all slow-rizon fault, look around see for example the torch has been out for less than 2 months and already outsold storm 1 and 2, whatever slow-rizon shows from RIM will sucks before go to sales……!!!!!

blackberry will have to step up their handsets to suit consumer wish-lists both in software upgrades and to the design of a blackberry model for the business minded consumer that wants a phone like a 9000 model that is big display, bigger keys and needs a 5 megapixel camera or better. I am sure that if this model were sauced up a little bit and re-introduced, it would be the biggest selling blackberry to-date on the market. It is bigger yes, but the advantages of a bigger blackberry have always been a faithful operating system with security, a great, sleek phone, and if they don’t make this winner soon, many blackberry users will start considering the android market more and more. It is a matter of survival for RIM canada to step up their design configurations on models in Guadalajara, Mexico to meet the market desires. Tony

This is a poor Photoshop job, even if it is true. It looks like a generic layout from RIM and they’ve overlaid their own message. The black level around their message is 0,0,0 and ends where you can see the horizontal edges of that area. They’ve spelled “you’re” incorrectly, like a typical 12 year old, where just above it, it is spelled correctly.

    • Iceman

I also just noticed it says “Your invited for…” This is not real, or they really need to fire the copy editor. It should be “You’re invited to…”

  • The SPCS Guy

I don’t think Verizon or BB made this ad. I think it’s all BGR who put this together. It just doesn’t look that professional.
