2.2 on one phone, 2.1 on the other two, and Sprint ID.. Well at least they got one phone up to date with the Android OS..

  • Android

Once manufacturers get this OS on my microwave, Apple is doomed.

I completely agree. As soon as DROID is stock in my car’s stereo system Apple will be finished. The Apple iCar will totally flop next to DROIDcar

How do I upload Android in my Brain?

Sprint ID is actually pretty cool. Just checked their website for a look and I’m pretty impressed with their attempt to make Android simple for ALL users. Android can be overwhelming for most “average” users.

Simplicity is one reason why so many love the iPhone. Sprint ID is a good attempt at making it simple.

    Nice play Sprint!

What engineer got drunk and threw these ugly phones together?

What is the point of the Transform? I don’t see it as a decision of choice…I just see it as a manufacturer and a carrier trying to milk more money out of an OS. This is why I’m seeing Android as being redundant, because of wasteful hardware like the Transform.

    • SladeNoctis

Why are you only targeting the Transform, out of all the phone you pick the best one and called it a waste. How bout all the other Android phones that only had a spotlight for a month on Verizon side or a waste the Samsung Intercept was, when it was considered a “successor” of the Moment. To be honest this is not a waste, i bet all the people on SDX(which is alot) that didn’t have money for Epic will love the Transform its actually a true successor to the Moment instead of that Intercept which was just a phone in the same series line with Moment but with a 3rd of less features.

      • Topher86

Well, price point is virtually irrelevant, especially a month or so after the initial launch, you can pick up the phone you want for a good price if you look around.

You hardly see that many LG Android devices, so the Optimus S has a valid reason to come to market, as well as the Zio, with it being Kyocera’s first Android device.

I already think Vzw is running the risk of over-saturation putting all their eggs in Android’s basket, and I def think Motorola is milking Android for everything it has, which is making them put out redundant devices just so it has a new name to push.

I am being 1000% cynical here, but I like innovation, and I’m just seeing the same devices being recycled w/ an added feature…no innovation.

For a $100 phone, I like how the Zio looks.

This phone isn’t as bad as as it looks. (the same reason why I like the other Optimus).

This is basically the same phone as Optimus GT540 that was already released and people are reporting that it is surprisingly snappy. Wonder why?

That’s because this 600MHz MSM7227 processor is sort-of half way between the old ARM11 based processors and 1st gen Snapdragons. MSM7227 uses Adreno 200 GPU from the Snapdragons. GT540 received Quadrant result of 465, which is only a bit lower than the Nexus One with 2.1 as shown here:

    http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/105-analysis-of-qualcomm-msm7x27-msm7227-msm7627-and-msm7x25-msm7225-msm7625-processors-how-good-are-they/

So given the low resolution, plus this GPU means the phone will be surprisingly snappy, and most games will run just fine.

I wouldn’t buy it for me, but may look great for my kids. :)

You know Android is spreading itself too thin when Sanyo starts making phones in order to suck the tit as well

People stopped buying Sanyo Products after the boom box fad went south.

    • Judge Smails

So you’re telling me to put down my boom box? Crap.

  • o0adam0o

All i wanted was a Galaxy S phone with no 4g (and a $10/mo fee). Why did they have to dumb down the Transform so much? Guess ill hang on to my $30/mo. SERO even longer! Take that, Sprint!

    • Anthony

      dont think sprint really cares

    • E

Speaking of dumb down, bet you didnt know about the new SERO plus plan for people in the old SERO plans. Seems to me you are being negative against a product cause you are too cheap to pony up for the real deal. If that’s the case your comment is null and void and only diminishes the collective intelligence of humanity even further. Quit whining.

So i guess this is Basically their “One Click” for Android.
