Sonos Controller app for Apple iPad now available

We checked out Sonos’ Controller app for the iPad a little while ago before it was in final form, but last night, dear music lovers, the highly-thought out remote went live in Apple’s App Store. Pricing is set to free in typical Sonos fashion. Well, what do we think about the app? It is an incredibly rich remote experience that in some ways even performs better than the regular desktop application. The larger screen of the iPad means more information, more control, and makes using the music player and service incredibly easy and rewarding. Video of the app after the break!

    Man, that’s a beautiful app. You’ll never see this kind of beauty and sophistication on an Android device.

      Meh. No one needs this. Sonos just wasted their time and money for nothing. If they’re not focusing on Android as their main and only platform, they will lose all they’re customers in the next few months.

      Agreed. Read my comment above. Ignoring the iPad should be first on the list for any developer. The Tab will become ubiquitous and render the iPad useless in a month.

        Since the tab is not yet out, that is impossible. But once it’s out, there will be tens of millions sold within a couple of months. Sonos won’t know what hit them. The hype around the Tab is unprecedented.

        no the hype is completely precedented. it was called the iPad hype last year, but now it’s the Galaxy Tab hype. come January when they announce iPad 2 with better features than the Tab, Slate, Streak, and Playbook combined, all of you will eat your words.

      because Sonos makes kick ass speakers and now with the AirPlay option available to everyone, major speaker manufacturers are getting on board, giving consumers more options to accessorize their homes and maximize the awesomeness of their iPads.

      Because BGR gets kick backs from Sonos. Look at his past stories on Sonos. There are other (and better) products out there such as the Squeezebox but BGR doesn’t get kick backs from Logitech. Shame on you BGR.

        Yes, actually. I saw a lot of groundless speculation by certain people who claim that BG *must* be on the take if their favorite device doesn’t receive equal coverage and plaudits to Sonos in this space. I had been foolishly under the impression that a reasonable person might just like the way a particular product works more than another without having fraudulent motives. I must have missed the post with actual evidence of kickbacks. Perhaps you could help me out by pointing directly to it.

    Great addition to an already excellent Music server system.

    i have an ipad and i have no idea what the heck to do with it yet. This looks pretty cool though
