German newspaper pegs Nintendo 3DS for November 11 in Japan

Gaming

A German newspaper has preemptively published the purported release date for Nintendo’s next mobile gaming system, the 3DS. The paper writes that the 3DS will be released in Japan on November 11 and will have a European release date sometime in the spring of 2011. The paper also states that Mario Kart 3DS, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, will be two titles available when the device launches. Nintendo has a press event scheduled for September 29 in Tokyo, Japan; it seems like we won’t have to wait too long to find out if the publication is correct.

    Horrible 3D implementation.

You have to keep your head EXACTLY centered or you lose the effect. Really annoying when you are using it to the point where you would rather just not have such shoddy 3D at all.

Even worse if you’ve tried out a big screen TV with 3D games and seen real 3D games in action.

Have you even tried the Nintendo 3DS?? I’m curious to know. There were positive comments on what Nintendo did with the 3DS during the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), in fact, they stoled the show. Don’t be so quick to judge if you haven’t used it.

Maybe from hardcore Nintendo fanboys, but people who actually played the 3DS complained about how the the 3D effect only works if you keep your head perfectly in the center of the screen and if you move it slightly to either side the 3D stops working.

Sounds like Nintendo rushed this junk out the door to jump on the 3D hype. Absolutely no reason to waste money on this piece of crap. Perhaps when then come out with a new version later that inevitably will claim to have fixed the problems with this first model.

      1. Its a handheld device so keeping yourself relatively centered isn’t really a drawback.
      2. The effect does not just go away either, it just loses intensity as you move further left/right.
      3. I don’t think you’ve actually used it as its an amazing machine that is arguably as good looking as movies at a high end theater. Granted its on a 4″ screen, but for a portable device its amazing and the games demonstrated are absolutely gorgeous.

Considering the current DS is about to be the highest selling game console of all time (already over 120million units), you really don’t know the massive draw this will immediately pull from the mass consumer.

Woohoo! The world of handheld 3D gaming will soon be upon us. Surely if November is the month for Japan, the US release can’t be too terribly far off. March, maybe?

In either case, all of the poo-poo’ers here simply aren’t informed, or just love to hate Nintendo due to lack of self confidence (huh?). Just about everyone that tried the 3DS at E3 walked away amazed – from Nintendo fanboys to your average blogger Joe. Developers are super excited as are fans. Lest we not forget that Nintendo has yet to fail at a handheld.

The only way this can become a failure, however, is if the price is set above $250. Even that seems way too high for a handheld. But, something that is spec wise up there with the next gen home consoles, and can play games in 2D or 3D with the flick of the dial, can’t come cheap. I just hope it comes soon!

    And yes, I’m a fanboy. :P

the source is the german tabloid press “bild” (which means picture). some of their reports can be regarded as “interpretations”. it is not their habit to follow facts only. bild is the most criticized newspaper in germany.

This is from the “Bild-Zeitung” … not a newspaper.

Why wouldn’t it be worth getting? It’s the new handheld from Nintendo, not a DS with a new form factor. Shtoops.
