HTC EVO 4G getting update to address Gmail and calendar issues

General

A quick note on Sprint’s support site indicates that the HTC EVO 4G will be getting a small software update sometime in the near future. The update lists “calendar event edit issues” and “multiple Gmail account sync” as the two problems it is designed to address. The version number is also listed at 3.29.651.5. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System Updates > HTC software update on your EVO 4G.

Nothing yet for me, I’ve been checking all morning. The fps issue will be nice.

I am considering getting one of these things. But before I do I would like to know if HTC addressed their battery issues. I’ve purchased HTC phones in the past and the batteries died completely with in 9 months to one year and that is retarded. Is this still a trend or do the batteries now last the two years of a contract that leashes you to your master, I mean carrier?

Name a heavily used smart phone battery that lasts 2 years….

      • phil dough

the smartness of the phone is a red herring. I’ve owned many phones that I drain during the course of every day of ownership and the battery still holds a full day’s worth of charge after 2 or 3 years. I am asking because the two HTC phones that I had in the past had batteries that wouldn’t hold a charge for two hours after being fully charged up in just 9 months to a year of steady daily use.

lithium ion batteries only last for around 300 charge cycles

        Says who?

    Among it’s other issues.

Does anybody use bluetooth keyboards? I’m considering getting an EVO, I just can’t get accustomed to using touchscreen only phones.

  • Brian

phil- come back in 7 months and I’ll let you know how my battery is doing.

  • PAPINYC

    I am also at 3.26.651.6!
I really haven’t any complaints about my EVOOO, best phone EVERRR !!!!

Those of you who want a battery to last forever and a day take your butts to Sears Auto Center or get some tampons, because you’re bleeding “bitch-bitch-bitch” all over the place.

Nothing yet. I’ve been trying all day since I heard about this in the morning.

  • phone_booger

Where is the update that prevents a fully charged unplugged Evo 4g from being unused overnight and being dead when I wake up? I love my phone and this sucks that the battery is a let down. Also why the heck do zombie apps start up again after I FC and run an App killer, address that Googgle !!!

    • PAPINYC

      DanteXI:
Dude, I’ve left my EVOOO on overnight with about 75% of battery charge and always still wake up with about 70% of battery life. Suggestion: turn off bluetooth and/or wi-fi overnight; as well as, manually sync weather and turn off GPS (you don’t really need GPS unless you’re driving or doing a Google Search for restaurants or stores near your physical position – and, I doubt you’d be looking for restaurants in your sleep). You can still set email accounts to auto-sync! If you’re using any other APPs’ that auto-sync change the sync settings. And, for goodness sake, you don’t need duct tape (even in your sleep) !!!

      • DanteXI

Yeah I do all except tun off wifi, I don’t know wtf happened this morning. It usually loses like 5%-10% overnight but this was just weird. Its a shame that using our phone to the max makes it the Hummers of smartphones.

Alas no update for me yet @ 1635 Los Angeles. Although intermittent 4G around La Puente, Baldwin Park, City of Industry

  • PAPINYC

Just got the update and, for some reason, my Software Version rolled backwards to 3.29.651.5; yesterday I had 3.29.651.6 !
Still the best PDA/Smartphone I’ve ever had!

Among them (not in any specific order): TouchPro 2; iCrap 3G; XV6800; XV6700; XV6600; Samsung i760; Samsung i700; Thera 2032 (remember that bad boy); Siemens SX66; Krackberry Storm; Motorola Droid (Didn’t); I may be forgetting one or two.
