Android 2.2 for Motorola DROID X confirmed for tomorrow

General

The gang over at Droid-Life have gotten the official skinny on the DROID X, Android 2.2-update release date. That date is: September 22, 2010 at 12:00 PM ET. The instructions seen above also detail that starting at noon you can manually pull the update down by going to: Settings > About Phone > System Updates; it appears as though you will not have to wait for the OTA to roll out in waves. There you have it.

is anyone else having problems with this update.

Everything works fine other then my text messaging app. Its not sorting the threads properly ie. the new messages are not on top they are in random places and not sorted by time and I do not see where I can fix this problem. I tried handcent but since it uses the messaging inbox the problem still occurred…
    Any suggestions?

I am dealing with the same problem. It’s very annoying. Also the pictures on my text messages are not matching what they are in my contacts,

Love the update – HATE the text messaging sort order. From what I can tell, it sorts in the order of MY responses… not in the order received.

right from installation the update froze my system up at reboot. had to pull the battery 2x to get it to boot back up correctly because I could only see the moto logo on a black screen come up. 2 days later the camera stopped working so I reset my phone and again the moto logo screen came up and the phone booted up in the background. I could use the phone as normal EXCEPT that the moto logo black screen was showing. Tried to take the battery out, wait a few minutes and then reboot, even tried to turn the phone off blindly from the black screen which after having the phone turned off all night worked. It seems like there still are some bugs in this update which almost bricked my phone. Not good for an update that should be enhancing your phone instead of bricking it. I had to take the battery out about 30 times and reboot to get it past the moto logo screen and back to normal. I’m kinda disappointed about this update, would have just perferred to stay at a stable 2.1 versus something thats gonna brick my phone. I read on other sites that people were having the same issue too…
