Twitter website gets redesign, packs functionality

General

Twitter has announced that its official website will be getting a heavy makeover. Aside from a cleaner, two-column layout, the new looks will also pack new functions, including:

  • Media. Now, it’s easy to see embedded photos and videos directly on Twitter, thanks to partnerships with DailyBooth, DeviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, yfrog, and YouTube.
  • Related content. When you click a Tweet, the details pane shows additional information related to the author or subject. Depending on the Tweet’s content, you may see: replies, other Tweets by that user, a map of where a geotagged Tweet was sent from, and more.
  • Mini profiles. Click a username to see a mini profile without navigating from the page, which provides quick access to account information, including bio and recent Tweets.

The new layout, which also provides infinite scrolling (thank you!), will be rolling out to a small percentage of users today and the vast majority of users in the next few weeks. We have a video detailing some of the functionality after the break.

Whatever that first comment is about. A former employee I am sure. Look PAL, if you would have made better coffee you would still have a job.

Anyhow, how big is a certain product that you redesign your entire website to match the Tablet device App equivalent?

Look, just because BGR fired you doesn’t mean that there isn’t work out there for you. Someone stuck in traffic surely could use their windows cleaned. Hell, they might even give you a sandwich for your efforts.

Come on BGR, if you are going to delete that person’s posts then you have to delete my replies. It doesn’t make sense now, so delete comment 4 also and this reply to comment 4.

I don’t have the new Twitter yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it out.
