Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy Tab gets unofficially official

Breaking

Multiple Verizon Wireless sources of ours are confirming this, and we just had an image sent over to us — the Samsung Galaxy Tab, getting announced for carrier partnerships on Thursday, just got confirmed internally. We know the run down on the specs, but here is a recap:

  • Android 2.2
  • Adobe Flash 10.1 support
  • 7 inch touch screen
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • CDMA EVDO Rev. A

Samsung is holding their event on Thursday, and we’ll be sure to bring that news to you when it breaks. Now, you know we have to ask… are you on board for a Tab, or trying to hold out for that Motorola Android 3.0 tablet that the general public hasn’t seen yet?

i like the idea of ditching my phone, which i use for calls less than 250 mins a month for an all in one device like this. strongly considering it.

now if only it came with a slider.

sorry for a repost, but also wondering if we can upgrade at contract price after a year, or if we’d be stuck for 2 full years.

      It’s just a bigger droidx that doesn’t make calls…

    Waiting.

I cant wait till they get it so I can use it on another provider!

With the built-in Wi-fi you could use google voice or skype if you wanted with voip for voice calls. I just hope you won’t have to be locked into a 2-year contract with Verizon in order to get one.

I want to wait, but Dell just released pics for the Inspiron Duo that’s a tablet/netbook hybrid, which won’t make me sign an online provider contract, so that may be the route I go. We’ll see. The tablet market is heating up.

Screw Rev-A….. HSPA is the REAL 3g technology. Problem with “Droid” is its on CDMA> G2 is gonna be sweet and so is the Desire HD on AT&T screw VZW and Sprint!!!!

Wow! One question. Does it have a USB connection?

I would take a wi-fi only version also. I am not trying to pay another data plan. Either a wi-fi version only, or ditch the smartphone and have a regular flip phone just to make calls, and carry the tablet like a organizer book.

The Event doesn’t start until 6:30pm EST :(

This is going to be terrible on Verisuck. Much better on Sprint where the tab will have 4g capability!

Tablets should be wifi only, or at the very least the option should be available to purchase a unit without a cell radio. These devices should work all over the world and ought not to be tied to a service provider. We have smartphones for that… and all those smartphones (many, not all) can function as a hotspot or at least tether. Samsung can’t compete with the iPad by locking into carrier contracts. No one wants a second contract. One is enough. Especially when you already have a comparable device in your smart phone. Highlight the benefits of the large screen: videos, books, news, games, documents, etc.
