Nokia developed Foursquare app due out in the next week

General

Sure, Nokia added social check-ins to their Ovi Maps application today, but that doesn’t mean that the geolocation fun has to stop there! Today at Nokia World, Foursquare’s VP of mobile and partnerships,Holger Luedorf, gave the Nokia developed iteration of his company’s application the proverbial thumbs up. The Nokia offering looks just like the native Foursquare apps available for the iPhone and Android and adds some great new functionality (including the ability to edit a places details right on the device). The app is compatible with Symbian^3, 5.0, and 3.2 devices and is due out sometime next week.

Really, how sad is it that Foursquare couldn’t be bothered to develop something for Symbian, so Nokia had to do it themselves and then get Foursquare’s approval to make it ‘official?

Nokia is toast. They’ll be in the ‘hardware company dustbin of history that failed to respond to change’ club within a few years.
