How many ways can you copy the iPhone form factor? These are too similar, really just boring at this point. I don’t see the purpose of releasing a pair of similar, under-powered handsets that do nothing to push forward the technology.

agreed. the myTouch HD is looking goooood tho

Agreed. I was expecting more from LG. LG said they were going to sell Optimus One to 120 countries (more than Samsung’s Galaxy S), so I was hoping that they will have at least similar specs, but apparently no.

Both of these devices are using “600MHz” processor. Given what’s available on the market, it is probably Qualcomm MSM7227, which is also used by HTC Legend and LG Optimus GT540. Although much better than yesterday’s 528MHz processors, those are slow by today’s standard:

(Look for results for HTC Legend/GT540)

Much less memory too. I think LG should try harder!

It is not LG! it is the buyers of the carriers that pick the phones out of a lineup of Smart phones that sell the phones to the end users!

If you’re going to use the lame idea that everyone is copying the iPhone form factor, which is just the average touchscreen phone, then the iPhone is copying the LG Prada, which is copying the _____ (…)

Face it, if you make a touchscreen phone without a physical keyboard, it’s pretty much going to look like the one next to it. Let’s see you design something that looks remotely different, while still being useful, and wanted by the general public.

Waaaaaahhh lets get caught up in semantics. The bottom line, is it’s boring, indistinguishable handset that does nothing to push forward the h/w or s/w of the Android line up.

      • Charlie

Android is moving along just fine, in my honest opinion. Nothing’s wrong with manufacturers throwing out a couple low-end phones. It’s not like that’s what they’re spending all of their time/money on. Plus, not everyone wants/needs a high-end phone. I think a low-end Android phone would be pretty successful. Good platform, cheap phone. Kind of like an iPod touch in another sense, hahaha.

Actually, given the name especially, I was thinking the Optimus One looked a lot like an uglier version of the HTC Nexus One, with a really crappy processor on the inside. I hope they’re not planning on selling this for very much. WAY below my threshold…

  • MadSkillz

I’m sure Hasbro is just waiting in the shadows to see if LG has the cojones to throw in the word “Prime.”

    • josh

Prime is another way of saying One

  • boogalooboy

    Another android handset, meh.

  • Chellykay88

The optimus one looks really dated like a palm treo without a keyboard and the other one just looks boring….
I’m not excited for either of these. I can’t imagine who would be?

  • GN

still utilizing a chip from a year ago…oh well..im sure they have good reason, besides trying to keep the cost down.

  • Al Chablis

Yes, why the Transformers reference here? Curious…

  • Bobby Digital

How many JunkDroid plastic handsets get released each year? These looks like toys carrying a stale OS.

LG needs to stick to washers and driers. Now THOSE appliances are cool…

    • Maytag Ma

No they arent.. LG Needs to stick to TV’s

  • Al Chablis

LG TVs aren’t LGs. They are Zeniths. So poop on that.

    • Rob

LG bought Zenith so if anything Zenith TV’s are now LG.

  • Droid doesn’t

    Weak

  • Turbocooper

This just looks boring…its got 2.2 sure but its still almost outdated before it hits shelves. Id rather have the Motorola Defy. Its only running 2.1 but its built to be a little rugged, has a better screen, better processor, and has DNLA tech built in.

  • Josh

    “A 3.2 inch 600MHZ Processor”

    That’s one big processor.
