T-Mobile's myTouch HD to have Android 2.2, front-facing camera

Rumor

TmoNews has published a document that seems to shed a little more light on the myTouch HD handset due out from T-Mobile. The document details that the device will have a 3.8-inch screen, HSPA+ radio, Wi-Fi, 4 GB internal memory, micro-SD card slot ( 8 GB card included), 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing VGA camera, Android 2.2, and SWYPE. The document also touts the handsets “1 GHz dual processor” as a feature. Still no word as to when this bad boy is going to be street-legal, hopefully we’ll have more details to report soon. We’ve got the full document for you after the break.

This is a nice phone but if it has one of those gay skins on it they can keep it! IM waiting on a “Standard” Android phone with A Front Facing Camera

  • Mj

    I second that

  • debbie barnes

Glory!! Such a pretty phone w/ pretty specs.

  • michael scott

It will definitely need that 1gig processor for all of the bloat/crapware installed. Don’t even get me started on the stupid skin that can’t be turned off with out rooting.

  • DInc

Still no where near what VZW has to offer…I will pass. Plus isn’t Tmobile for people on welfare?

    • Norm

Im going to have to agree. All of these carriers trying to copy off of the DROID line are nuts if they think people are just going to buy a second rate DROID copycat. Mytouch is what they decided to call their DROID knockoff? Weak. Verizon was the first to bring us DROID and Im getting kind of irritated that these bottom shelf carriers are coming and just bastardizing DROID.

      • http://www.theandroidguru.blogspot.com Android Guru

First off, T-Mobile brought us the first “Android” phone w/ the G1. Second off, “DROID” is a moniker for Verizons line of “Android” phones. So the mere fact that u are calling all “Android” phones “Droids” shows u only know what u see on commercials. Do us all a favor & Get a clue before you post

      • Mitch

        Norm, you are an idiot.

Do you have any idea what the G1 is? Do you have any idea who the first carrier was to bring Android to the masses?

        STFU.

      • SI

Norm, you are a pathetic waste of human existence.

So which is it? Do you knowingly say things that are NOT true just to piss people off? Or do you really believe all the horse shit you say?

T-Mobile started Android with the G1, they were the first ones in the world to come out with it.

Plus their 3G data network is faster than Verizon’s (and Sprint’s 4G Wimax for that matter) and NONE of their customer’s pay extra for it. Existing devices get roughly a consistent 3-5 MBps and future devices like this and the G2 get 10-12 Mbps

Your response to this might be Verizon’s LTE? Well no. Because LTE is going to run of a separate network, meaning existing customers will have to run TWO SEPARATE radios on their devices at the same time just to get faster internet speeds. The CDMA radio for voice, and the LTE radio for data. So you’ll get have the battery life on a comparable T-Mobile HSPA+ device and it’ll be kicking Verizon’s ass in download speeds too.

So, keep bending over just a little more paying your Verizon bill buddy while T-Mobile customers enjoy Android as it was intended on the G2. Motorola sucks and so does their Custom UI they created to go over every Verizon android phone to bog it down.

Verizon customers are sheep. Verizon spends more on marketing than some of the carriers use to fully operate. So enjoy your lame ass DROID with all the other kids you ignorant loser, T-Mobile customers know better.

So go ahead and keep paying your

      • The Robot Devil

Obviously they didn’t tell you that T-Mobile was the first carrier to sell Android devices during your Verizon employee training.

      • Deus Invictus

@Norm Not only did T-mobile bring us the first Android phone with the G1, the myTouch line started with the MyTouch 3G which came out before the original VZW Moto Droid. God why am I feeding the Trolls.

It is strange that they call this “dual-process” instead of “dual-core”. Qualcomm has 3 models that possibly uses 1GHz clock:

QSD8x50 – this would blow. Its the current generation Snapdragon that blows in GPU performance.
MSM8x55 – this one is rated at 1GHz but it looks to be a 1GHz version of MSM7x30 (found in HTC G2), which means its a single core.
MSM8x60 – this is a 3rd gen Snapdragon. It is a dual-core and it does run up to 1.2GHz. But I feel this one is not market-ready yet.

Lets hope for the sake of us, it is MSM8x60. Based on what’s written here, it would be pretty good. :)

      http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/73-analysis-of-qualcomm-msm8x60-msm8260msm8660-12ghz-dual-core-snapdragon-processor/page__pid__86#entry86

But more likely it is MSM8x55 with some marketing ploy as MSM8x60 should not be ready for the market yet. :(

    • dblnutcustard

No that’s Kricket and Boost that cater to them.

    • PiperCrab

      EPIC LULZ. DInc is hilarious.

    • Zapote21

      Welfare? You are kidding…
I make 6 figures, not counting what my wife makes… But WHY on God’s green earth would I pay 100+ more per month, just because I can? WHY?
Not to mention that where I live, I have HSPA+ which blows all others out of the water…

      Welfare?? LOL

You want to blow your money go ahead… But no matter how much I have, I will not give it to VZW or ATT, just because I can…

    • Deus Invictus

I tend to be preferential to the term Fucktard!

  • debbie barnes

welfare and myTouch HD for all!!!

  • Max

And yet another phone Blackberry morons drool over but try to convince themselves they need BBM or ‘secure’ email.

  • HabibAKAJohn/Peter/Tom@SprintPOS

T-Mobile has never, ever released a statement that said “4G network and HSPA+”. They’ve never said “4G network” for that matter.

Then it says “T-Mobile’s 3G and HSPA+ network” right above!

Where is the T-Mobile logo on the phone. Where is the Android operating system.

The trackpad doesn’t even look proportionate to the rest of the phone.

Qik is garbage and easily found in the market.

    Fail fail fail

    • Peyton Manning

Read the caption under the picture of the phone….last sentence “on America’s largest 4G network”

What do you make of that?

      • tech junkie for life

I think you should go back to reps on the field as the Colts sucked this weekend.

      • serpentor

Peyton threw for over 440yrds. Don’t blame him.

      • ItsMeBeaches

U kinda do have to blame him…57 passing attempts to 10 rush? I know ur gunna say “but Peyton doesnt call the plays,” but actually he kinda does…he gets 3 plays before each snap…1 run right, 1 run left and 1 pass, he picks the one best for the situation…he didnt call enough run plays “where the averaged 4.4 yard per rush” to keep their defense off the field and get them some rest…instead they wore down and started getting torched by Foster.

  • JM

I am interested in this one…preferably with stock Android.

  • MacMan

Hey its tmobile, and thats a nice phone for tmobile. Qik does suck.

  • Fanboys Will DIE

Why is it like the same troll posted 6 or 7 times under different names?

  • Galen20K

Couldn’t agree more with you two.

  • Epic

Well norm there wouldn’t be a droid line if android didn’t get popular on the original android the g1

  • Mr.Bill

    Not bad looking.

Always liked the look of the MyTouch series, fairly stylish phones against the flow of others designs.

No offence, but a camera is least an last thing that makes or breaks a phone for me, its overall functionality first as a frakking phone first.( One mentioned above is a camera with a poor phone, go figure)

Camera lol, I want thermal imaging.

  • doug

    So no physical keyboard?

With or without swype, how big a deal is a virtual only keyboard at this point?

    • http://robert.aitchison.org Robert Aitchison

For me a physical keyboard is a must, which is why my G1 will (probably) be replaced by a G2 in October.

Indeed I wish there were a better selection of phones with physical keyboards.

But surely you must realize that not everybody wants or needs a physical keyboard. For people who work well with a virtual keyboard (I am not one of those people) a physical keyboard offers little value.

      • doug

i asked with genuine curiosity…i’m a virtual keyboarder all the way, but i was a blackberry user for a while and understand the appeal. Android users have more choice along these lines, so I’m trying to measure the trend. (not flame a war no matter how many -1 ‘s i get)

  • PiperCrab

Physical keyboards suck. They make a phone look hideous and I am not paying for crap like that.

If I want a keyboard I’ll use my PC.

    • B

I have to assume you’re either a teenager or you’re just being introduced to smartphones, which generally are touch screen only these days.

  • offdayJB

now THIS looks like a beautiful 2010 phone. hopefully it will have a Super AMOLED screen with a good baterry.

  • Kar

Will it be deep skinned or stock Froyo. Isn’t the genius button means skinned?
    Can anybody confirm this?

    • mingkee

It should be Espresso UI like MyTouch slide.
About FFC, I really hope T-Mobile will support native 3G video call on top of Qik and Skype.
Moreover, UMA should be launched for Android by the time this unit is out.

  • AndroidB4Droid

This is a nice phone but enough with the myTouch line already! We need some nicer looking HTC phones with vanilla Android! Not phones with bloatware on it. If I wanted a bloatware phone I’d go sign up for a Verizon “Droid” or a crappy AT&T-poor attempted Android phone. Also, T-Mobile was the first to come out with an Android phone, Verizon got jealous and decided “Hey I want one too!” So they decided to pay a royalty fee to George Lucas to use the “Droid” moniker and add a bunch of crap onto their phones and say its the best out there! lmao! thats an EPIC FAIL. And they charge an arm, a leg, and one left nut just so that you can use their data service! Which is just slightly better than AT&T’s network! Which still lags behind T-Mobile! And DLNC and Norm, why are you on a T-Mobile Blogsite? Doesn’t Verizon have one where you can bust a nut too?

    • AndroidB4Droid

sorry.. lemme me correct myself. this is not a t-mobile blogsite.

    • Wild Bill

T-Mobile as well as the rest might throw the techies and hardcores a bone once in awhile, but obviously they think that skinned, bloated Android is more sellable and marketable than stock vanilla android.

And they are probably right. You have to remember, these are mass produced and mass marketed devices. These are not rare bottles of Dom Perignon Champagne produced in small numbers solely for purists with deep pockets.

The carriers are not in the phone business. They are in the plans & services business. Thats where they make their $$$$. But each phone sold means one more contract. One more set of plans & services. So the idea is to order, market and sell devices that appeal to the largest number of customers and potential customers.

  • Wild Bill

T-Mo probably shouldn’t feature Jesse James again in their hipster celebrity wannabe/has-been commercials hawking this My Touch

    • FonZ

Of course Jesse James should come out on the next commercial for this phone. Can you imagine? Him having a sex video chat with one of his mistresses? Priceless.
