iOS 4.1 bootrom exploit found, new jailbreak method on the way

Almost in unison with Apple releasing iOS 4.1, iOS tinkerer pod2g announced a bootrom exploit that will allow the jailbreaking community access to the innards of the California company’s mobile operating system. The exploit will eventually facilitate the next wave of iDevice jailbreaking, and isn’t something that can be plugged with a simple software update; Apple would have to flash a new bootrom to iPhones, etc. before they leave the factory. The iPhone Dev-Team is cautioning that all users steer clear of iOS 4.1 for the time being, but know that they — and others — are on the case.

UPDATE: We’re being told by someone who has knowledge about this exploit that in order to patch this particular bootrom hack Apple would need “a whole new processor rev.” A re-flashed or patched bootrom for the current hardware would not be sufficient.

    It is so amazing to watch the Apple fanboys stick up for defective Apple products. For the Apple fanbase it truly has become a religion to them and they will follow Steve Jobs anywhere without question. They are all in fact Lemmings. Apple doesn’t care about their installed based other than to remove money from the pockets of their Lemmings followers and put it into theirs. They have never shown true corporate responsibility for their defects or problems. It’s always the users fault, i.e. you’re not holding it correctly, etc. So not only does Apple view their constituency as Lemmings…they are “stupid” Lemmings. Apple doesn’t take proactive action to fix their defective products. They have no systematic way of updating their bugs and flaws. Yet their Lemming followers keep on worshiping at the Apple altar. I will give them credit for one thing and that is that their hardware is almost always stunningly designed on the exterior. The problem is just like in humans that beauty is only skin deep my friends.

      Lem•ming–noun any of various small, mouselike rodents of the genera Lemmus, Myopus, and Dicrostonyx, of far northern regions, as L. lemmus, of Norway, Sweden, etc., noted for periodic mass migrations that sometimes result in mass drownings. Metaphor in reference to people who go along unquestioningly with popular opinion, with potentially dangerous or fatal consequences.

    I believe the same goes for Fandroid sheeps. They sound like the crazy homeless man ranting about the end of the world. People choose phones that work for them and for whatever reasons. There are posers everywhere you go. droid is no different.
