Google adds missed call notification emails to Voice

General

If you rely heavily on Google Voice, as we do, but don’t have an Android handset — preventing you from leveraging the superb Voice app — we have good news. Google has added the ability to send missed call notification emails directly to your email address of choice. As the Google Voice Blog explains: “Starting today, whenever you miss a call, you can see a notification in your Google Voice inbox, or receive an email notification, or both. This setting can be turned on and off from the Calls tab in the Settings menu.” The feature is live and ready to be used. Enjoy.

OMG… This would explain why my phone is going crazy this morning. Everytime when someone calls my phone and leaves a message I get notified 4 time.

Really annoying until I can figure out the setting. Thanks for the heads-up.

I’ve been using google voice a ton on my nexus one on at&t and it’s become pretty unreliable. Randomly, it’ll stop forwarding to my cell phone, and will only ring my work phone (which is a landline).

It also wouldn’t forward to my cell phone when I was using the moto droid on verizon’s network.

    Pretty terrible, and disappointing.

Yeah, I still love Google Voice, but I have some major complaints.
    1) In the last month or so, it has just been flaky at times. Callers being told that my number is “not available”… caller ID stopped working for a few days.. etc, etc.
    2) The lag. Most of the time, it’s like trying to talk to somebody in Europe in 1980. We keep start/stopping/interrupting each other. It’s incredibly frustrating!
They need to be working on fixing these things instead of adding new features. I’m about at the end of my rope on this service.

    Nice!
I was with Grand Central before Google bought it and I use it for everything. Love it

I only use my google voice number for garbage anyway. Like, when you sign up for something and they ask you for a number, I used my Google Voice for that, so I don’t get telemarketers and junk calling my cell. I’ve seriously reduced the # of crap calls I receive by doing this.

Then apparently there’s FedEx guy in my area who either has a similar number or giving out the wrong number, I keep getting messages about packages and junk. I think it’s pretty funny, and no I’m not going to bother to tell these people they got the wrong #. I just block em so if they ever call back, they get the ‘Phone Not In Svc’ message. LMAO.

I do miss that GV app on Android though (now that I have a WinMo phone again). But for the reasons I explained above, I don’t miss it THAT much.

Google has turned into a very reliable business tool. I like it I use it and I depend upon it. I am very concerned reading the reliability concerns above but have not experienced them.
