WSJ: T-Mobile wants to sell Huawei Ideos

General

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that T-Mobile is “in talks to distribute Huawei Technologies Co.’s new Google-powered smartphone this holiday season.” The phone in question, dubbed the Ideos, was revealed yesterday in Berlin. The phone is an inexpensive, 2.8-inch touchscreen, Android 2.2 device that Huawei says will be a powerful and accessible Android handset. The WSJ quotes a person familiar with the matter and explains that “an agreement would give Huawei an opening into the U.S. market and T-Mobile a low-cost smartphone.” The suggested retail price for the Ideos is between $100 and $200 off-contract.

“The suggested retail price for the Ideos is between $100 and $200 off-contract.”

Really? $100 for this phone, on contract? What are they smoking! I’d give maybe $50. It’s a budget phone! If it’s anywhere close to $150 why wouldn’t someone just get mytouch slide? Or even a G2 (when it comes out)? Or a Vibrant? Those are all $170-200. I don’t see $40 making a big difference. Heck, a mytouch is FREE. lol

But it is funny that this has 2.2, yet phones like the Dell Streak launched with 1.6

Can you not read?? You didn’t even read or comprehend the quote your pout in your post. DUMBASS!

Do you not understand that in America, most people sign contracts. And if you’re already willing to sign up with Tmo, why wouldn’t you sign up for 2 years and get a better deal on a phone? And you save what, like $10 a month for their off contract pricing? Doesn’t really seem much like a deal.

And you’re calling me the dumbass? Have you seen the comments you usually post? haha I’m actually at work today, making a good chunk of change on overtime and you’re calling me the dumbass. Thanks for the laugh!

        I bet you’re lying…

You say all the things I say when I lie…

        Touche sir!

You’ve got me. There’s no way I can prove I’m telling the truth or not.

Just use your imagination… But not too much… there’s some weirdo’s on the internet! lol

dude 8 people have corrected you and you still don’t get it. learn how to comprehend. the phone is going to be $50 on contract or cheaper. finally get it now?

      • Scott

Actually, 1 person correct me. And I have no problem being corrected. I just didn’t care to post again saying “oh, yes, I did make a mistake. My bad”. But thanks for pointing it out again ;) How’s that for my comprehension?

    • Shhhhhh

      That’s cold, man LOL

I’d rather go to the local House Of Chow Mein and spend my money on something Chinese worth getting rather than buy this piece of dyed plastic.

The greatest thing about this phone is its cheap price!

After it dies in 3 months, you will have probably saved enough money for another outstanding device like the Behold II

It’s not for me, (though I wish the G2 has physical buttons for send & end)

But for my 16 year old son maybe.

Of course the way T-Mobile has been pricing phones lately they will probably want $350-$400 off contract for thing.

  • Mr. Fixit

I think this one is cool!

I may have to pick one up for my 3 year old son. It’s never to early to teach about primary and secondary colors.

Does this device come with Mother Goose Sense preinstalled?

  • Ragged Glory

I’ve got to give these guys some props for one thing at least. By slapping “Google” on the back of the phone instead of “Huawei” they will probably find a few more suckers to buy this phone.

    Pretty shrewd move.

Why all low budget phones are dumb?

Now Huawei is coming to the market with Android mobile phone. They are introducing very good looking and stylish handset to the market. The price of this handset is also very reasonable and very attractive.

    excellent
The analogy: this is the KIA of smart phones is well said. Not to mention this will help lower the cost of all the other DIVA phones, and the baggage that goes with them.
