Google refutes Apple's activation innuendo

General

During yesterday’s music-event keynote, Apple CEO Steve Jobs informed the crowd that his company was activating around 230,000 iOS devices every day. The figure 230,000 is of particular significance because just last month, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that the search giant was activating around 200,000 Android devices per diem. Jobs continued, and quipped, “we think some of our friends are counting upgrades in their numbers.” The implication being made here — albeit not a very subtle one — is that Google was including users upgrading from one Android device to another in their activation figures. In light of the semi-explicit innuendo, Google released a statement that reads: “The Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services.” Just another twig added to the Google versus Apple fire. Speaking of fire, try to keep the flaming comments to a minimum if you would.

“Speaking of fire, try to keep the flaming comments to a minimum if you would.”

LOL Did you really think they’d take it easy on the flaming with an article like this.

Steve is looking more and more insecure everyday in regards to android. Two years ago he wouldnt have cared less, now that the iphone has gotten knocked of the top of the mountain Stevie is getting a little uptight.

once apple’s fanboys stop buying their products blindly, jobs will be in a bit of a pickle.

    • EmmDubyalicious

You say that as if there’s a chance of that ever stopping soon.

@Beenyweenies, Or apple can open up the iPhone to more networks. Same as the iPad. Just like they could with osx. If they wanted the market share, they could easily get it. But they don’t care to.

Yes because if there’s one thing Apple don’t like to do , it’s make as much money as possible

Steve Jobs’ head is a lil inflated….&when’s he going to understand that people want flash in the browsers on their mobile phones?

Go to phonescoop.com and compare iphone4, iphone 3g, Droid 2, Droid Incredible and droid X. I’ll give you a clue whom is ahead on the ratings by a full point on average. Cute little green guy as a mascot and not a skinny bald man that looks like he just came out of his meth trailer. Bringing IPhone to Verizon will only accomplish one thing. It will allow my fellow sales people and I to show our customers how much better and faster droid is then IPhone right in front of them. We’re legally bound not to trash IPhone to the customer, unless we sell it. Apple knows this and that’s one of the reasons they don’t want their inferior product on the same self as its superior. So I say bring on the help apple, let us “sell” your phone. ANDROID!!!

Just a stupid thing to say, period. Egotistical public comments just make you look stupid in the future – in this case, the next day by a brief statement.

Having a decent product just isn’t enough for some people I guess.

Why would anyone leave iphone? Here is my story:

Oddly enough, the call drop mechanism can detect the importance of a call and drop the call at just the right second. It also has the ability in stressful calls to drop the call at the exact right moment where it makes it look to the other party like you just don’t care what they are saying and hung up. On top of that, it stays with you as you call customer support lines for up to 30 minutes until the person you have been waiting patiently to speak to finally comes to the line. Then drop…

That’s why I am on android now with an HTC EVO (and several extra batteries with me at all times)

FYI, not a call drop since the evo… except when talking to my wife on her iphone. Again – always at the wrong moment.

actually thats a stinky smock neck shirt white sneaks and of course black socks and no shave and weighing about 80 lbs..i dont get his sad look is it a gimmick of some sort? if they do manage to get there paws on vzw customers this year it will be very interesting! i for one hope the droid army holds strong once we have iphone on VZW too

In his defense, his shirt in that picture is CLEARLY not a turtle-neck. It’s a standard crewneck collar.

  • Originalme8

and…someone didn’t pay attention to the last line of this article apparently.

  • webby

So you are … the thread police? … LOL

  • EmmDubyalicious

In all fairness, that comment was completely hilarious.

  • Mrwirez

Okay noted, however as summer fades and fall comes the crew neck will very slowly morph into a full blown turtleneck. idouche
