T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Curve 3G September 8th

General

If you’re a T-Mobile BlackBerry user, and have no plans of jumping off the BlackBerry or T-Mobile bandwagons, listen up. T-Mobile has just announced, via Facebook, that they will be launching the BlackBerry Curve 3G on September 8th. The device runs BlackBerry OS 5 (but is BlackBerry 6 ready), has Wi-Fi, 3G, and a 2 megapixel shooter. The handset will retail for a mere $80 on a 2-year contract and will be available in grey and purple. There you have it.

So none of the carriers are carrying low end phones, or mid range smartphones? LOL

      Too funny…

      • Steve Jobs

Other carriers carry low end phones , true….but all of Tmobiles phones are low end. And before you try to refute that, Nexus One was Googles, not a Tmobile release. And the Galaxy (Vibrant) is on every carrier so there is no incentive to get that at Tmobile exclusively when they have argueably the worst version.

How so, if you don’t mind me asking?

      • SI

They don’t have the worst version you blithering idiot.

The at&t version would have to be the worst version since they load their custom bloatware that runs in the background and you can’t close them like at&t nav which is pointless to have on the phone when you have free google nav. You can’t even install apps that aren’t from the market on the At&t version without rooting! The option to do this has been stripped from the phone… at&t took the openess out of the open OS!

The Verizon version is stripped of the Google apps and is replaced with… Bing services, are you kidding me? Plus it has the least version of RAM of all the versions: 256MB where every other version has 512MB. …and the Sprint version is just plain ugly. Physical keyboards are great, but Sprint completely destroyed the elegant look of the phone.

T-Mobile gives it’s customers a free HD movie to go with that great screen plus a full version of the SIMS 3 game.

^This is why you are a blithering idiot

actually you’ve refuted yourself. Galaxy S phone may be on every other carrier, so it isn’t a carrier exclusive like the G1, the myTouch, or the soon to be released G2 (HSPA phone).

But that doesn’t matter to a tmobile customer, the point is, with the Galaxy S you can be on tmobile and have a world class Android phone.

That’s the main thing. Look I pay $96 a month, and I have lines, both have unlimited data. 750 anytime minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile, nights/weekends.

I had to get a 15% discount to get that – but, point being, under $100 per month, nobody could match that for two unlimited data phones.

Tmobile has better prices, and you can find a nice phone.

the OS is so old it’s like Charlie Brown wrote the OS.

Just the news I’ve been waiting for. Wait….what was the news again?

This is like reporting that the Radio Shack PONG game got a firmware update for faster frame rate…

BB 5.0 S/W? Bahahaha, enjoy cheapos!

  • Bonz_Malone

I just left BB & Tmo last week for greener pastures. If BB steps their game up then I may consider them in about two years.

  • phone capo

yes a new blackberry that does the same shit as the blackberry that came out last week and lol at anybody leaving a phone carrier just to get the new hottest “it” phone that’s so childish.

  • Kam

Why do so many people bash a phone that has stood the test of time. Yes I am berry user but at the same time, if I don’t like a certain device I just don’t comment on it. Just a random thought.

However, I can’t wait for this phone to come out as my little sister will be getting it she wants a berry but doesn’t like the 9700. She said it is to big for her. But love the 8520. Looks like she will get her a new phone.

  • Brad

Does anybody honestly care about any new Blackberry release at this point? Really? The only one I’ll ever be excited about is one that puts the Torch to shame, because that was supposed to be their new flagship model, and it’s a dud.

One of the best features exclusive to T-Mobile blackberries that BGR failed to mentioned is UMA support.

UMA is the ability of phones to make calls and texts through a wifi connection, where service is weak or nonexistent. This technology is very noteworthy because you can take the phone to another country and connect it to wifi and use the phone to make and receive calls as if you are in the US without any roaming charges… mostly because your phone still THINKS you’re in the US.

    • SI

The reason they are releasing this ‘mid-range’ phone is because for a while they couldn’t figure out how to get 3G and UMA to work off the same device. The Bold was the first phone to do this. The Curve 8520 that this replaces, had UMA but no 3G. So this phone is a simple refresh to give customers wanting to purchase a Curve… 3G. (Not to mention t-mobile 3G is faster than sprint wi-max in almost every test… even without hspa+)

I wish BGR would do some research instead being quick to be so dismissive in their articles.

That’s the diesel powered model with the hand crank, right?

  • cellswag5

    heres my dream black berry.

bold form may but a little longer with a 3.0-3.2 touch screen
full key board under the screen like a bold

    inside 800-1gz processors 512mb ram
5mp or 8mp with flash and night mode.
3g. and hey why not a ffc since everybody wants one.
( i dont care for ffc)

get it done tmobile and rim!

  • mike

T-Mobile sucks if their reception was not so bad they would not have any need for uma calling. Verizon is the way to go, it may be higher but you get the reception plus 3g you pay for.

  • JM

I am really looking forward to this…it gives me a reason to buy the E73.

  • clint

this is a good phone. not everyone wants 1000 apps they will never use or livewallpapers to drain the battery, or a screen display thats hard to read in sunlight or short battery life
