Samsung Galaxy Tab is Verizon Wireless' tablet

Breaking

Guess what we have here, folks? Confirmation that the very sexy and very unannounced Samsung tablet device for Verizon Wireless is actually Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablet. It is currently sitting pretty in Verizon’s internal systems, and a source of ours has sent in proof. Well, now that the mystery surrounding Samsung’s tablet is out, it won’t be long until we get to the bottom of Motorola’s slab device. According to our information, it should up the stakes on Samsung’s unit by running Android 3.0 and offering more screen real estate — 10″ worth.

I hope it will using Android + AMOLED!

Nope, LCD. There currently are no amoled’s above 4″ (Galaxy S) and will not be until late next year- when the new Samsung plant is supposed to be up to full speed.

I think it will bw a great device and I don’t know what took Verizon so long. Some competition for the iPad is good, I think Samsung is the right choise, they make good devices. Please have a 10″, not a 7″…

    • Chris

Why not both? I personally think the iPad is just a bit large. I’d rather have the 7″, resolution being equal… Choice is a good thing, and something Apple is NOT so good at.

I hope it has a wifi ONLY choice like the iPad so I don’t have to pony up to Verizon. I’ve got an Incredible running Android 2.2, rooted, with unlimited Wireless tethering. I could tether the tab up to my Incredible for internet if necessary. I’ve already connected 2 laptops and 2 desktops to it as a test and it worked flawlessly. Android rocks.

  • wtf

Alvin VZW is only unlimited on phones now with that tablet they will most likely go the way of their aircards with a 5gb cap and seeing how Verizon copys everyone (att) with pricing I would bet the farm on a cap on phones soon.

Samsung is working on a 7″ screen Android tablet with front-facing camera.

Motorola is also working on a tablet as well, except it will sport a 10″ screen, either 1GHz or 1.3GHz CPU, front-facing camera, and Android 3.0.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I saw the device last week and it fits nicely in one hand at 7 inches!! It has a Verizon data only radio and will be a hot spot. It is very cool. Almost wishing I had not ponied up the $$ for the iPad, but I may still get this too.

  • Iria

Dunno why BGR reports above it to be 10″. After all, their original linked story said 7″ !

  • Justin

If you read the article the 10″ they are refering to is the motorola tablet uping the stakes.

  • ballsmahoney

    The screen is small..

  • FoSho

A tablet that is tied to a carrier is going to be epic fail. At least the iPad gives you the option.

    • rushmore

Correct. Samsung is positioning this for failure, since it is superfluous considering people would just as soon have a phone that does this function, rather than pay for TWO data lines.

This device could be HUGE if not tied to a carrier. Stupid move.

  • Giantsnation

This is going to also confirmed to be on Sprint’s 4G network, which will be a lot better than Verizon.

    • VZSprextel

And you’re saying that it won’t be on Verizon’s 4G network as well?

      • Giantsnation

No plans at initial release to work with Verizon’s LTE.

    • Joe_Smoe

Sprints 4G works in what.. 10 cities??? WOW I’ll take Verizon’s Network any day… Go LTE!!!

      • Giantsnation

LTE is way behind. Spring now has 4g in over 50 cities with NYC on its way.
