Apple iPod nano cases in production, surprise no one

Audio

Well, well, well… That rumored touch screen square iPod nano is looking pretty solid right about now. Thanks to our lovely friends in manufacturing in Asia, 3rd party cases have started showing up online for the new iPod nano device. We’re not talking just one either, more like a whole heap — every color possible, too. In addition to cases, there is also a mockup along with sizing dimensions that has surfaced as well. We have to ask, is an incredibly small touchscreen iPod nano something that interests you, or will you stick to an iPod shuffle? Image of one of the cases after the break!

UPDATE: As one of our readers points out… what if this is just Apple’s new Shuffle? Would be pretty amazing, right?

I have to think someone’s going to make a wristband holder for this and it takes the place of a timepiece.

For people who like having their wrists attached to their ears? Ouch.

like the iphone nano that had cases made and never was a reality! Probably just some joker in china who made it just to fool the world.

They also started making cases for the touch with camera holes last year, its just so the manufacture will be ahead, they have no idea what it will look like

Meh…I still have my ipod classic 4gb..im still just as happy ‘-)

The iPod classic, or the original iPod never came in 4 GB, the original 1G was 5GB, the only products to come in 4GB were the nano, mini, and shuffle. ;)

    Mini iPhone anyone?

I did notice that it seems to have the antenna gaps in the bezel/antenna. Looks interesting!

I see it as somewhat of a reenvisioning of the mini iPods. The device could run a simplified iOS and have wifi connectivity, be capable of Twitter and Facebook feeds, etc, as wells being able to store photos, operate as a wrist/alarm clock, and more. We’ll see shortly, and while we can debate the merits of the small screen, everyone knows if that touch screen is well utilized, it will sell millions.

Lets think this through how would you type on a 2 inch screen? or try to read that for any length of time… I think it makes the most sense for it to be mostly voice commands apples voice commands are awesome.. Other than the robot lady is annoying… To me it makes the most sense for play/pause menu next track and pervious.. but more relying on the voice commands.

Well, the current Shuffle is a joke so I’m really hoping the new Shuffle is something similar to this. This looks pretty cool.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I use my shuffle primarily at the gym and the last thing I need is to have to deal with a touch screen when I’m sweating. If they make the shuffle anything like this it would be just another example of Apple failing at industrial design by pushing something because it looks cool even though it ruins the usability.

Looks like Jobs jumped the Schmidt

That case and the render above it don’t seem to match up very well.
