Sprint Samsung Epic 4G user guide live

General

If you’re thinking about picking up an Epic 4G from Sprint on the 31st, and want to know exactly what you’re getting into, Samsung has got you covered. The company was kind enough to post the user guide for the unreleased handset on its website late yesterday. There aren’t really any surprises in the document, but it does go over — ad nauseum — how the devices software will behave. The read link takes you right to the 264 page PDF if you’re interested. Enjoy!

    Can I say what’s the point in getting a 4g phone when 4g is not going to be around For awhile still. That’s like buying a car that can go 400 mph in a 20 mph zone. Lol

    • Topher86

      I’d still at least touch 80 in a 20mph zone…

      You dont buy Ferraris, Lambos, and Bugattis to drive the Speed limit.

    • Dan

      It still has the fast processor and does high def video streaming and recording. Also it does video calling among many other things thats why. I have the EVO and I am in a 4g area. I find myself only using the 3g network for the most part. I will turn on 4g for certain things but the phone is very very impressive on either 3g or 4g. The other Andriod devices dont even compare to the EVO or the Epic. Its like having a Lambo and obeying the speed limit.

      unlimited data!

    • mykie

      Not sure where you live, but I’m guessing it’s not in one of the 45 metropolitan areas where Sprint already has $g coverage.

      According to the US Census bureau (In 2000) 68.5% of US Residents the metropolitan areas covered by Sprint 4G. The good majority of the rest (about 20%) are in rural areas that don’t get reliable coverage from any area carrier, or are at least covered for 3G, which is unlimited when you buy a 4G phone anyways.

      So move out of the sticks, wait until its in your area, or just QUITYERBITCHIN’.

      • Electrofreak

        Not sure where you got that data from because Sprint definitely didn’t have any 4G in 2000.

    • Electrofreak

      I dunno about you, but Sprint’s got 4G in my city.

  • 3 Phones Jugglin

    People still need to read cell phone manuals?

  • McDonalds Triple Quarter Pounder with Cheese

    Its still no iphone.

    • Dan

      You’re right its better. I can video call over the network. I can call any mobile phone anytime and not use minutes. I have unlimited data which I can tether for free without jailbreak or use the hotspot feature for a fee. I can customize my phone and run any app on my phone without prior approval from the idiot Steve Jobs. Did I mention I can watch flash videos and flash content on the websites…..Oh and I can actullay hold my phone and make a call. Many other things also but I think you get my point. Brainwashed America and there kid toy Iphones.

      • McDonalds Triple Quarter Pounder with Cheese

        You are on Sprint so realistically even if you have this phone i doubt you get 4G in your cardbox located near the closest soup kitchen.

      • Dan

        Actually I am downloading at 6mega a second on 4g. I can post a screen shot if you really need it. When 4g first launched in my market it was spotty but a couple months later no problems any where. In buildings outside my house all good.

      • Juan

        Thats right youre on ATT the nations shitties network. Can you make a call on your iphone without holding it right or you have to grab it perfectly with your right hand??? how many dropped calls did you have today. Also what is all that garbled noise on your shitty gsm phone. That’s all i hear when i talk with people who have att nothing but freaking garbled noise sounds like freaking turkeys gobbling.

      • .:ROOT:.

        …cardboard box by the soup kitchen? on no he didn’t…lol

  • Paul

    I have an iPhone 4g and still long for the functions of my Palm Pre. The grass is not greener over here. It is just a different plot of land.

    • .:ROOT:.

      True words, give me the Palm’s OS in an iPhone 4 body and you have a phone set for world domination…sigh…

  • burnett

    Glory!

  • Matt

    I just want to say to everyone who keeps pointing out that damn $10 4g fee..

    For one it gets you unlimited data. Something Verizon and AT&T don’t have.

    Also even with the extra $10 4g fee Sprint is STILL cheaper then both Verizon and AT&T on comparable plans.

    So if you want to pay MORE with Verizon or AT&T and have a capped data plan then by all means sign up.

    For those of us who can do math we will pay less with Sprint and have our unlimited data whether it be 4g or 3g.

    • McDonalds Triple Quarter Pounder with Cheese

      Paying 10 extra a month for something you don’t have access to is kind of silly.

      • mykie

        45 metropolitan areas covering 68% of the US population have access to Sprint 4G.

        You can stop failtrolling now.

      • Matt

        So you wouldn’t pay $10 a month for unlimited data?

        Do you just not get that or what?

        Yes I will pay an extra $10 for unlimited data and not worry about what I am streaming to my phone etc.

      • Juan

        lmaol like mykie said you can stop failtrolling now. Paying $25 for only 2gb of data now that aint silly its stupid not to mention ATT 3g network is so small compared to Sprint’s 3g. $10 gives you unlimited data on 3g or 4g either way. Same thing about 4g is not available in lots of areas thats how att 3g is if you are not in a big city then you have Edge. Lol now that is sad and stupid.

  • weezy

    sprint sucks assssssss at&t is better

    • Matt

      Yo weezy thats great bro..Guess what?

      I don’t live where you live and for me AT&T sucks and Sprint rules!

  • Terminator

    Epic (4G) fail.

  • PAPINYC

    Anyone hating on Sprint EVO and 4G are just upset because they either:

    Didn’t jump on the bandwagon June 4th;

    Can’t find an EVO to buy now at Sprint;

    Still locked into a 2-year Bumper;

    Afraid to leave Verizon and their 1990′s Vcast;

    Still Krack’d up on ‘Berries’;

    Or, still making video calls whilst sitting next to their Super G router, hoping it’s strong enough to maintain connected.

  • magic mallymall

    Epic 4g is far from a fail… super amoled, 4g, front facing cam, 720 video rec at 30fps, humming bird(cortex A8), with far superior gpu chip than the snapdragon, keyboard(although not my cup of tea)….. only two disappointments are touchwiz 3.0(launcher pro will easily solve that) and Samsungs bad resume of leaving its previous mobile devices left 4 dead when it comes to updates….

    • Steve Jobs

      It’s a complete fail… in fact its an Epic Fail 4G.

      • Dan

        The only EPIC FAIL IS the Apple engineers that put a metal band on the iphone for better reception.

    • PhxBlue

      Another plus with the Epic is you can choose to use Touchwiz or the stock Android launcher.

  • Swagger

    Once again PAPINYC is right. Take these haters to school.

  • Yours is better

    Your all idiots…..mines better than yours….. lookie, lookie i have the new megnutron kilowatt influx. Your all junior high kids (mentality types). Get a life !
