Samsung Fascinate launching on September 9th

Exclusive

Wow, for a Friday afternoon things sure are sultry on the Verizon Wireless front. We’ve just been sent in a Verizon training document that seems to indicate that the Samsung Fascinate will launch on September 9th. The document is part of a pre-paid training series being offered to VZW retail employees. You’ll notice that to the right of the Fascinate the date 9/9/2010 is listed. So there are two stories here… the first is that all the evidence we’ve seen points to a September 9th launch for the Fascinate, the second is that Verizon Wireless will be offering the DROID 2, DROID X, DROID Incredible, and Fascinate as pre-pay devices. We’ve got the full memo after the break.

Thanks, double0kevin!

I had my finger on the trigger ready to buy this on 9/9 when BGR had to report on that new HTC!

    • SKINNI

That new HTC looks badass! I dont see Samsung making me drop my X but the HTC might just do it! That thing looks sweet all around

  • motofooker

Reliable source told me that its so badass, Steve Jobs is getting one as well – since he gets no signal in his office.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been waiting for a phone to grab my attention for a while. My wait for the iPhone through Verizon is up. I’m getting this immediately.

  • Bry

Passed on the Incredible, X, and D2 for this phone!

I really want the Fascinate I just hope the reports from yesterday are wrong and it does have 512 MB or RAM. If they are true though that new HTC phone looks really sick too!

    • George Curious

My feelings exactly. If no 512, then I will wait for the HTC.

    But what is it?

Is the Fascinate an Android device? Or possibly running Samsung’s Bada OS?

    • Justin

It’s an Android device. It’s part of the Galaxy S family.

Am I reading that right, VZ is gonna charge $30 for unlimited data, no 5GB cap??? I hope so cus’ I was about to get the Virgin mobile unlimited for $40.

    • Eli

VZW has never had a data cap on the data plans for phones.

      • USF

That’s for phones, not broadband. There is still a cap on broadband.

Ill just wait for the VERIZON IPHONE that is coming in january…

    • VZSprextel

Sorry, but Apple’s Tim Cook said 18 months ago that he wanted “one (GSM) iPhone for the world” and that “CDMA has a limited life to it”.

Now, I know that this was before AT&T network problems went from bad to worse. But I still don’t think an iPhone on Verizon, Sprint, or even T-Mobile USA is likely.

  • BurgerKing

Too many rummors about the Verizon Iphone. Hope it is true…

    BGR and VZW…sitting in a tree…….

Verizon has a data cap on mobile broadband cards of 5GB, and when you teather your phone to computer there is a cap, but no cap for data on the phone its self!!! Only Steven Jobs has data caps on cellphone data, and REQUIRES a bumper on the phone to get a signal AND to hold your phone a special way!

    • Jennifer

This is why Verizon adds software to their Droids and why they charge for the Mobile Hotspot feature. They also block the free HS feature built into 2.2 Froyo.

They are able to tell when you are using your phone as an external modem and will capitalize on it.

  • debra

well guess this is verizons way to stay number one it wont be that bad since it got some nice phones but the price tag is gonna be hrfty tho

  • evlten

Verizon only caps datacards that you use on a laptop, and those are capped at 5gb. Verizon has no real way of knowing if you have tethered you phone to your laptop or computer and use it to surf the web. I have been doing it on my rooted Droid for 6months and have used a lot more than 5gb of data and my bill is always the same.

  • PHug

Verizon’s pre-paid prices are ridiculous $30 for data and an additional $65 – $95 for talk and text?
At those prices you are better off getting the 2yr. contract.

  • Larry Wilson

I don’t mean to be dense, but does this mean that they’re going to have a boatload of new prepaid phones?

What’s the pricing going to be like? I was going to dump my Verizon prepaid for a big-boy phone, but I don’t wanna be tied down for two years. If the pricing is right for the phones, I’m definitely grabbing either a Droid Incredible or a Fascinate for prepaid.
