Gorgeous, mysterious, EVO-ish HTC device headed for Verizon

Remember that Verizon Wireless roadmap we leaked? Well, it’s all coming together pretty nicely. We have just got our hands on images of one of the upcoming HTC devices we wrote about. Our source describes the phone as being an EVO in a larger and more polished Nexus One body; brushed aluminum, very upper end of the market, you get the picture. “It makes the Droid 2 look like a kids toy,” our source told us. No word on if it is a global device, although… we’re betting it is. From what we can see the device has an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, kickstand, 4.3-inch screen, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and, wait for it… a front facing camera.

We don’t have a release date yet (or a name), but we’re already counting down the days until we can get one of these in our offices.

        Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6’4″ 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought.What do you think.       If it actually releases Nov. 23rd it’s very doubtful unfortunately. I realize the Merge has a keyboard but I don’t understand why Verizon would release this phone at around the same time.

    Why cant they make it LTE but have it run 3g until they switch over?

      3G = This Year

      Now decide :)

      I would go for anything which comes first

      If LTE = Super Like
      Non LTE = Take it, Use it and when LTE is out, get that one too and gift the OLD one to wifey LOL

      @ Hello. That’s what I’m saying. 4G or not. I’m getting this phone. Plus, most of us won’t have 4G in our area till 2012/2013. Who wants to pay an extra $10 a month for a LTE phone with no LTE service? One of my girlfriends is paying sprint $10 extra a month because she has an EVO that’s 4G capable and 95% of the time she running 3G. Waste of money I think. And knowing Verizon they will charge more than $10 a month for LTE.

      Even removing this phone from the conversation, I can’t see Verizon (or even AT&T) releasing LTE-only phones. It simply wouldn’t make sense. Remember, mostly smartphones will use 4G, so without 3G to fall back on you have a nearly useless piece of technology other than making calls. Phones will have to be 3G & 4G until there is significant 4G coverage.

    i think this will be called the htc mecha that htc had leaked on the htcsense.com website the other day if u think about it the evo’s codename was the supersonic like supersonic the hedgehog now if this phone is supposed to be an evo 2 device than it would be better than the original evo so it would make sense to call it the htc mecha like mecha sonic the hedgehog which was a character that was waaaaaaaaayyyy better stronger faster than super sonic the hedgehog look up super sonic and mecha sonic and tell me what u think im serious

    Oooh maybe there is hope! I’m thinking, wouldn’t it be nice if Google started coming out with a “pure Android experience phone” on every network instead of just T-Mobile? Then I could replace my Nexus One with something wonderful instead of waiting for whatever comes after the Nexus Samshite.
