Google: 1,000,000 Gmail calls in 24-hours

Google hath tweeted that their new integrated Gmail calling feature announced yesterday has already seen 1,000,000 phone calls placed in just under 24-hours. The new service allows users to place VoIP calls — right from within the browser — to the U.S. and Canada free of charge and for very affordable rates to other countries around the world. We’ve been playing with the new feature and we have to say, it’s pretty impressive. Have you tried it? Thoughts?

    Worked great for me in canada. I would have thought that they would have enabled google voice app on android to but unfortunatly they didn’t :(

    Yeah and it works fantasticly… Only I wish there was android support, which will probably follow, hopefully soon! I already get out of paying for a text plan, wish I could eliminate talk plan and go data only!!! 60 bucks a month for all you can eat data and you get text and talk through google voice!?!?!? Heh, I’m down… Anyone else?

    just change your proxy to the US, change your country in gmail to the us, then go back to your normal proxy and you’ll get it.

      For us layfolks….could you elaborate? Google Call works for me in Canada, but I’ve never been able to activate my invitation to Google Voice which I desperately want. I suspect your idea would address this, but I am unsure technically how to “change my proxy to the US”. Appreciate any help I can get.

      Obviously, I’d have to select a Google Voice number from the US to do this.
